Dr. Jennifer Goldman-Wetzler is an American organizational psychologist and conflict expert. She is the author of the book "Optimal Outcomes: Free Yourself from Conflict at Work, at Home, and in Life"[1] and she writes the Achieving Conflict Freedom column at Psychology Today.[2] Her work has appeared in publications including The Financial Times,[3] Inc.,[4] Success Magazine,[5] The Washington Times,[6] The New York Post,[7] Chief Learning Officer Magazine,[8] MarketWatch,[9] Fast Company,[10] and Forbes.[11]
Education
[edit]Dr. Goldman-Wetzler received her B.A. in Social Psychology Magna Cum Laude from Tufts University in 1996. She earned her M.A. and M.Phil. in 2006 and Ph.D. in 2008 in Social-Organizational Psychology from Columbia University.[12]
Jennifer's doctoral research was funded by a Graduate Research Fellowship with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (2003–2008).[13]
She was also a Fellow in 2005-2007 with START[14]: The National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism, based at the University of Maryland, where she was a research fellow under Dr. Arie Kruglanski.
Career
[edit]In 1997, Dr. Goldman-Wetzler worked as an Associate at the Cambridge, MA-based firm Interaction Associates.[15] In 1998-1999, she served as an Associate at Vantage Partners.[16] In 2000-2002, she served as the Director of Negotiation Programs at Mediation Works Incorporated in Boston, MA, where she delivered training programs for corporate, non-profit and governmental institutions based on Harvard Law School Professor Roger Fisher's[17] Getting to Yes "win-win" principled negotiation methodology.[13]
In 20002-08, while she conducted her doctoral research, she completed two internships at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Behavioral Sciences Research division.[18] Starting in 2007, Dr. Goldman-Wetzler served as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University's Morton Deutsch International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution, where she continues to serve as Affiliate Faculty.[19] She designed the course Transforming Conflict From Within and taught it to graduate students from across Columbia University from 2009-2019.[20]
In 2008, Dr. Goldman-Wetzler founded the company Alignment Strategies Group.[21] While she led Alignment Strategies Group, from 2014-2017 Jennifer also served as Global Head of the Coaching Practice at Mobius Executive Leadership[22].[13]
In March 2019, Dr. Goldman-Wetzler delivered a TEDx Talk[23] in Chelsea Park, New York City, called "Free Yourself When Conflict Resolution Fails." It has been viewed more than 7.7K times.[24] In July 2020, she joined Marshall Goldsmith's 100 Coaches community[25] and has served as an executive coach with his 100 Coaches Agency since January 2021.[26]
She has delivered keynote speeches at venues including Google,[27] and the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School,,[28] and she has been a featured conflict expert on the television show The List TV.[29]
Books
[edit]Jennifer is the author of Optimal Outcomes: Free Yourself from Conflict at Work, at Home, and in Life[30](HarperBusiness), which has been recognized as a Financial Times Book of the Month[3] and Porchlight Business Bestseller.[31] It was also included in Success Magazine's "6 Books to Help You Live Your Best Life".[32] The book has been published in nine editions and translated into four languages: Chinese,[33] Korean,[34] Vietnamese,[35] and Lithuanian,[36] with English editions available in the US, UK,[37] India,[38] Australia[39] and South Africa.[40]
Personal Life
[edit]Dr. Goldman-Wetzler lives outside New York City with her husband, the social entrepreneur Jeff Wetzler, and their two children.[41]
