[edit]Dr. Ibrahim Alghusain, PhD[1][2] is an Independent Consultant and a Certified Arbitrator, with focus on Business Development, Civil Engineering, Business and Industrial Consulting, Environmental Engineering, and Facility Management.
With an extensive background in civil engineering and environmental engineering, Alghusain's consultancy role focuses on leveraging expertise in water resources, project planning, and new business development. Alghusain's tenure as Partner and Chairman at Emarat Aloula[3] enriched his experience in leading complex infrastructure projects and driving strategic business growth.
As a certified arbitrator, Alghusain thrives in resolving disputes with a keen understanding of the intricacies involved. The skills honed during his latest engagements involve not only in-depth technical knowledge but also strategic negotiation and decision-making, ensuring successful outcomes for all parties involved.
Dr. Ibrahim Al-Ghusain holds a B.S., M.S., and PhD in Civil Engineering, specializing in Environmental Engineering and Water Resources. With 29 years of experience, he has contributed significantly to teaching, research, and administration at Kuwait University, and later to the private sector, where he was involved in the development of major BOT projects
Education
[edit]Dr. Ibrahim Alghusain pursued his higher education with a strong focus on civil and environmental engineering. He commenced his academic journey at Kuwait University[4], where he earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering. During his time at Kuwait University, he distinguished himself academically, making the Honor Roll and being elected to the Board of the Student Engineering Society from 1982 to 1986.
Following his undergraduate studies, Dr. Alghusain continued his education at the University of Maryland[5]. He obtained a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Environmental Engineering and Wastewater Treatment, from 1987 to 1989. Demonstrating his commitment to advanced research and professional development, he further pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Civil Engineering at the same institution. His doctoral studies, conducted from 1989 to 1993, focused on Environmental Engineering with an emphasis on Wastewater Treatment and Water Resources.
In 2014, Dr. Alghusain expanded his expertise by attending the John F. Kennedy School of Government[6] at Harvard University, where he completed an Executive Education Certificate in Negotiations, Persuasion, and Decision Making. This program enhanced his skills in strategic decision-making and leadership, complementing his extensive technical background.
Work Experience
[edit]Dr. Ibrahim Alghusain is currently serving as the Managing Partner at ASQ8 Economic Consulting[7] in Kuwait, a role he has held since June 2024. In addition to his duties at ASQ8, he continues to work as an Independent Consultant and Certified Arbitrator, bringing his extensive expertise in business development, civil engineering, consulting, environmental engineering, and facility management to the forefront.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Alghusain was a Partner and Chairman at Emarat Aloula[3] in the UAE from March 2018 to October 2020. During this period, he played a key role in steering the company towards significant growth and development in the region.
From October 2020 onwards, Dr. Alghusain has also been an Independent Consultant within the Gulf_Cooperation_Council Region, leveraging his vast knowledge and skills in civil engineering, management, consulting, and corporate communication. His experience as an Independent Freelancer and Certified Arbitrator has allowed him to provide valuable insights and solutions to various clients.
Dr. Alghusain's extensive tenure at Kharafi National[8] spanned 13 years, during which he held multiple pivotal roles. He served as Corporate Director from 2004 to June 2015, Vice Chairman from February 2015 to January 2016, and Chairman from January 2016 to March 2017. His leadership at Kharafi National was instrumental in driving the company’s strategic initiatives and growth, solidifying its position as a major player in the infrastructure development sector.
