Wolfhalden is a municipality in the canton of Appenzell Outer Rhodes in Switzerland. It has a population of 1700 (2002). The area of Wolfhalden is 694 hectares.

Around 1650 Heiden and Wolfhalden could not agree about the control over the church. This lead to the creation of a church in each village in 1652, making them independent.
