Tropical Storm Sandy is the eighteenth named storm of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season.

Meteorological history

A tropical wave tracked westward into the southern Caribbean Sea. It slowly organized and strengthened into Tropical Depression Eighteen on the morning of October 22 as it meandered around the southwestern Caribbean. An Air Force Hurricane Hunters aircraft flew into the storm that afternoon and found that it strengthened into a tropical storm, which was named "Sandy".[citation needed]
