Thanks for uploading File:Motor trend 73.jpg.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:28, 20 February 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Valley2city 09:28, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for File:Vega vert a pak.jpg}

Thank you for uploading File:Vega vert a pak.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Disputed fair use rationale for File:Vert a pak Shipping Train.jpg}

Thank you for uploading File:Vert a pak Shipping Train.jpg.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Your uploads

Good day. I see that you have uploaded a number of images to Wikipedia. First off, thank you for your contributions. Unfortunately, there are some guidelines that we need to follow with copyrighted images. Specifically, you need to add a source for the image (a link to a website will do), a copyright tag (there are some listed at WP:ICT), and a rationale explaining why we can use a copyrighted image (explained at WP:NFURG). I see that your images fail to include one of these. Please stop uploading images and address the concerns listed above. If you need assistance, you can ask at the help desk. If you do not fix these images, and you continue to make bad uploads, you will be blocked and your images will be deleted. Thanks for your contributions! Thanks for uploading File:Vega vert a pak train.jpg.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:The first Vega built.jpg)

⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:The first Vega built.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 03:43, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:1964 Corvair Monza.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:1964 Corvair Monza.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 04:06, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tag removal

stop Please do not remove image issue tags without addressing the concerns first. You need to state your concerns on the talk page, try to contact the users who placed the tag on the image, and alter the fair use rationale in order to address these concerns. Repetitively removing tags such as these is disruptive. Please follow basic image policies, and be careful how you use copyrighted content in the future (see WP:NFC). An uninvolved administrator will review the image shortly.-Andrew c [talk] 23:46, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:71 Chevrolet Vega Hatchback Coupe.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:71 Chevrolet Vega Hatchback Coupe.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 02:54, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Chevrolet Vega

I realize that this page may be your "baby", but you need to stop using so many edits to correct slight problems. Take the entire page to the sand box and work from there. You incorrectly placed a picture next to the description page. Please keep the Wiki bytes down by making editing "chunks".Keystoneridin (talk) 04:14, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User block notice

It is not permitted to upload multiple fair use images of essentially the same subject, nor to upload images belonging to other people and claim you created them yourself. I am blocking your account for 4 days for flagrant violations of the image use policy. Before uploading any further images whatsoever, I strongly recommend you consult Wikipedia:Media copyright questions for an opinion on whether the image is appropriate. As almost your entire contributions to Wikipedia constitute adding images that are contrary to the policy, further violations may result in longer, or possibly indefinite, blocks on your account.

You can appeal this block by adding {{unblock|reason here}} to this page. Stifle (talk) 12:55, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I fear Stifle may not have explained well enough the reason for your block. Let me give you the long version of what I understand the reason to be.
Wikipedia is owned by the Wikimedia Foundation which has policy, Foundation:Resolution:Licensing policy, that strongly favors content under a Free Content License. Non-free content is allowed only under an Exception Doctrine Policy (EDP). Such EDPs must be minimal. The EDP for English Wikipedia is Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria (NFCC). I think that for you the most relevant requirement of NFCC is “8. Significance. Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding.” None of the non-free images you have been adding to Chevrolet Vega meets that requirement. When you persistently add multiple non-free images of essentially the same thing and persistently re-upload deleted non-free content (like the Vert A Pac) it is disruptive to the project. And as I understand it, that disruption is reason you were blocked.
I appreciate your efforts to improve Wikipedia, particularly the Chevrolet Vega article. But the value your non-free images add to the article is not significant enough to override the project’s bias against non-free content. —teb728 t c 00:24, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know that I recently copied the above image that you uploaded to Wikipedia over to WikiMedia Commons, the Wikimedia central media repository for all free media. The image had been tagged with the {{Copy to Wikimedia Commons}} template. Your image is now available to all Wikimedia projects at the following location: Commons:File:77 monza mirage.jpg. Orphaned non-free media (File:1971 Vega GT ad.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:1971 Vega GT ad.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

My issue with you

I am beginning to think that you have nothing else to do but to change words around constantly. Unfortunately, you have the backing of an administrator so you can do whatever you want; while other people do not have this privilege. I realize that you have not written 95% of the article, more like 50%. You take words and rearrange them so that your edit count rises. I looked on your contribs, and found that you only edit this article. If you take the time to actually make Wikipedia a better place, you might realize that your skills would be very helpful on other pages.keystoneridin! (talk) 17:57, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at the article from Feb 12( or before I started on it)compare to the current edit. You'll see what I contributed to this article. I made a mistake. I wanted NEW Vegas in article used too many non-free images and didn't know how to do a complete rationel. When these non-free images were deleted I went through my old photos of Vegas I and my Grandfather owned. the 72 wagon, the 74 GT, 76 Cosworth. The 71 Panel and 73 Millionth Vega I currently own. all these images came from my photos that were scanned on my Cannon 310 scanner or are the 2008 digital photos taken with my cannon powershot. I am not using someone else's photos or web shots. As far as the many edits...I'm not trying to increase my edit count. (didn't know it could mean anything) but now know its good to save bytes. the many edits were from just reading it over and over to get just right. I'm sorry for the problems I might have caused but the images in the article are my work except for three non-free promotional scans from my material. If you are the copyright holder, you have nothing to worry about - just go over to the PUF page and assert that you have copyright on the images. The burden of proof is on the person submitting the report to prove that the images are unfree, not on you to prove that you are innocent. — neuro(talk)(review) 23:52, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I believe you used the correct licence, however when it comes to image copyright I am not an expert and neither are most people(I believe). Wikipedia would like to use only free images, to avoid the risk of being sued. I think I fixed all images, also. Free means that you have taken yourself, mostly. The policy is that if you use non free images, there has to be a good reason for them, and a free image not available.

Thanks for uploading File:75 Cosworth Vega.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Additionally, if you continue uploading bad images, you may be blocked from uploading. STBotI (talk) 06:26, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Car and Driver Vega GT -0.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article and put a note on the page's discussion page saying why this article should stay. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of continuing to recreate the page.

Reposting an image that already has been deleted at Wikipedia:Files for deletion is not acceptable. You have already been blocked for similar behavior. —teb728 t c 18:44, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Vega

Well, you've got to prove that the text is not enough to demonstrate the event you are describing. I'm a bit confused — why is it that you think that a picture showing the car racing in a particular is enough to satisfy NFCC? Surely you could just say "x won, etc" — or is there something in particular you are trying to illustrate? — neuro(talk)(review) 10:50, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm unsure that that would meet Wikipedia's non-free content criteria. Is the image we are talking about the one with the two cars, the vega in front, in black and white? — neuro(talk)(review) 14:07, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to User talk:Ww2censor, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Use the deletion talk page if you want to discuss the image you are trying to save and stop vandalising my talk page. ww2censor (talk) 15:49, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I notice that you said at User talk:Ww2censor that you thought an article is allowed one and only one non-free image. That is simply not true. What the policy says is, “Multiple items of non-free content are not used if one item can convey equivalent significant information.” This doesn’t necessarily mean that an article can show any non-free image—just that it can’t show more than are necessary for reader understanding. So for example, if the “Award and reviews” section actually needed to show an ad for reader understanding (which it doesn’t), it couldn’t show two. The Vega article doesn’t need to show any non-free image; you don’t get your choice of one. —teb728 t c 18:13, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:72 vega.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Musamies (talk) 04:47, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Magazine ads

Greetings. I commented at Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2009 April 7#71 Chevrolet Vega Ad-Promo.jpg, and I thought you'd be interested to know that this and most other magazine ads from before 1978 are actually in the public domain. This isn't widely known. I support the addition of public domain images to Wikipedia, and I'm quite willing to help you determine if a given image is PD or not. Let me know if you have any troubles with images or need any help. – Quadell (talk) 12:26, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recent PD claims

You recently changed the tagging of several images to PD—perhaps in response to Quadell’s comments above about magazine ads. I fear you may be confused by those comments. Notice that he did not say that everything published before 1978 is PD.

Some of the images (File:71 Chevrolet Vega Hatchback Coupe.jpg, File:71 Vega sedan.jpg, File:71 Vega Panel Express-red.jpg, File:71 Chevrolet Vega Kammback Wagon.jpg) are photos of individual cars. These have no indication of a source. They may be PD, but they need a detailed source so that the PD claims can be verified. I have tagged them {{di-no source}}, which is a "speedy" deletion tag.

Some other images (File:Road Test mag. 74 Vega LX.jpg, File:Chevrolet promo poster -2 from 1973.jpg, File:Chevrolet promo poster from 1973.jpg) are magazine covers. Notice that as Quadell says at Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2009 April 7#71 Chevrolet Vega Ad-Promo.jpg, the magazines themselves are copyrighted. The fact that Chevrolet reprinted the covers does not negate those copyrights. I fear that your change to a PD claim may create copyright violations. —teb728 t c 22:59, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • The Road Test, Motor Trend, and Car and Driver images are Chevrolet Dealer sales folders, which are public domain before 1978. I checked with Quadell first. he said Chevrolet brochures are also public domain before 1978. These are not magazine covers as the covers of these magazines but did not feature the Vega on the Covers of the actual magazines, but contained the article. The images on the covers of these dealer handouts are the same images contained in Vega brochures, except the Road Test folder which features an image from the article. They are reprints off the articles originally published by the mags and re-printed by Chevrolet, and were distributed at Chevy dealers as a brochure. They are folders, which means they are only two pages. Check closely at the Chevrolet folder titled Road Test. That one says reprint on the top, but all three are reprints by Chevrolet. There are others I haven't uploaded that feature the actual mag cover. Buick did the same thing for the Opel Manta in the '72 and used the actual mag cover for their folder-'72 car and driver Super Coupes with the Opel Manta rated first. That's why Buick reprinted that one. This is still done with auto companies reprinting articles into two-page folders of test articles of their products as sales handouts.

OK, how about File:DeLorean and Vega in 1971.jpg then? Isn’t that “NY Times-NY Times Archives 2005 copyright New York Times”? —teb728 t c 18:59, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The three photos in this revised file were released by Chevrolet in 1970 as part of a public relations press folder. Similar situation as the Motor Trend magazine issuing the Chevrolet ad. (Times doesn't hold the copyright) The photos were issued by the Times many years later as public domain images. The source of these three photos is Chevrolet, and were first issued in 1970 by Chevrolet public relations. I incorrectly listed the Times as copyright holder and source on the original file. As they were first issued by Chevrolet before 1978, I have added the correct copyright tag and source on this reduced size version. (VegavairbobVegavairbob (talk))

Thanks for uploading File:1973 Vega GT Coupe.jpg.

STBotI (talk) 03:55, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Courteous editing

Vegavairbob, as others have asked here on your talk page, please stop making numerous edits to single pages in rapid sequence. It's unhelpful, discourteous, and uncoöperative behaviour even if we assume the best of faith, for it creates and worsens edit conflicts. Please use the sandbox and/or the preview function to get all your edits into shape and then save them. Given the comments here on this page, it's apparent other editors and administrators are growing impatient with what looks like persistent and willful refusal to contribute in accord with community norms and expectations. You may not intend to convey the appearance of a troublemaker, but you're in danger of gaining exactly that reputation; may I suggest you take a few minutes to review the basic fundamentals of coöperative, courteous editing? It'll make everyone's life here easier and more productive, most of all yours. Thanks! —Scheinwerfermann T·C06:34, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, it might be better to get someone else to do this, otherwise you might have a good bit of a wait — I am currently overloaded with work. — neuro(talk) 18:14, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
