Hippo is the name of a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.
Publication history
Hippo first appeared in Dark Reign: The Sinister Spider-Man #1 (August 2009), and was created by Brian Reed, Chris Bachalo, and Tim Townsend.
Fictional character biography
Hippo is an ordinary hippopotamus named Fluffy Lumpkins who was turned into an anthropomorphic form by the High Evolutionary. Throughout his appearances, he joins the Redeemers and the Menagerie, attends the Super Villains Anonymous support group, battles Spider-Man, and loses his left leg to Venom before eventually regaining it under unspecified circumstances.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]
Powers and abilities
Hippo possesses superhuman strength and has a hard hide that is durable. He is also shown to be very adept in the water.
Reception
In 2020, Comic Book Resources (CBR) ranked Hippo 4th in their "Spider-Man: 10 Weirdest Animal Villains From The Comics That We'd Like To See In The MCU" list.[17]

Hippo appears in the Spider-Man episode "Bring on the Bad Guys" Pt. 1, voiced by Zack Shada.[18]
