[edit]

Considerable copyright infringement in this article, particularly in the section "R-46 problems in the late 70's to the early 90's tale." Contributing editor ran parts through a thesaurus to try to mask infringement; see for example the following passage from the article:

"MTA R-46s placed on the Brighton Line were introverted after residents complained about vibrations and higher noise level."

Compare with the following from NYC Subways:

"R-46s placed on the Brighton Line were withdrawn after residents complained about severe vibrations."

The web page is not public domain; copyright is assigned explicitly at the bottom of the page to Mark S. Feinman. For that matter, while nycsubway.org is credited for technical specs (which are taken from MTA sources anyway), it is not credited for the artistic and analytical work. There is no notice or release from the author anywhere placing the article under copyleft; therefore, unsourced and unquoted material is a copyright violation. 68.237.14.235 18:15, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

Let me add that the writing is in many places incomprehensible to a native speaker of English. The article needs a major rewrite. Zaslav 01:12, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ditto. I'm off looking for a "Copyright infringement" tag now. --Kbbbb 13:54, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please Note; The R46's were withdrawn from the (D) line in 1981, and this was due to the vibration of the original Rockwell HPT-2 trucks which were causing a series of low frequency thumps, or vibrations along the BMT Brighton Lines right of way, which were causing the concrete foundations of many of the buildings and houses built along the right of way to crack instead of the Rockwell trucks on the R46's assigned to the (D) line at the time. Meanwhile many of the Jamaica's assigned R46's have serious cracked Rockwell trucks during this period as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2000:610B:4600:E426:52D3:E87A:2CE0 (talk) 12:29, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

C line operation

[edit]

Hello, today (July 26th, 2011) I saw - and rode in - these cars operating on the C line. They were outfitted with a lit "C" train logo on the cab end which makes me think this is not temporary. I added the C line to the right-hand description. If anyone has additional info please add. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.111.112.201 (talkcontribs) 04:05, 2011 July 27

Physical observation is not sufficient for inclusion on Wikipedia. In order to be verifiable, a reliable source must be cited. Additionally, there is no such thing as the C line. Please see New York City Subway nomenclature for the difference between a service and a line. Acps110 (talkcontribs) 08:57, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well someone should tell the MTA to fix their website then. Also the A line has a R32 train running around so it seems a couple trains have switched letters. Maybe a useful person has information on that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.111.112.201 (talk) 07:01, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, No, NO, NO! Physical observation is ALL that you need! Thank you, 70.111.112.201! 24.193.156.117 (talk) 12:23, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Close paraphrasing again

[edit]

I was re-reading the NYCSubway.org 70s and 80s pages, and something seemed oddly familiar about sections on the R46 Rockwell Hell. Whoever added the section left in numerous words from the NYCSubway.org one. I will leave it up to you guys how to handle this, however, this should've been caught. Rewriting

[edit]

Hey, I checked out the page, and I noticed that the page needed to be rewritten entirely. I will take on that challenge. I'll have it ready soon! ManofQueens (talk) 02:31, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't add references for a reason. I did not rewrite the article. I simply changed the wording to make the article sound a little bit more formal and professional, not to be up all night looking for stupid references. Vcohen, you thought that i rewrote the article?! Man, that is only done by the administrators...ManofQueens (talk) 22:19, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators? They don't write or rewrite articles. I tried to follow your edit summary: "Rewriting of the entire page to comply with Wikipedia's "quality standards"." If you think the article still needs that template saying it needs to be rewritten, you may put it back. Vcohen (talk) 09:45, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No, No NO! I said that I just changed the wording. NOW the article qualifies with the quality standards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.193.156.117 (talk) 16:25, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Who are you? I was speaking to ManofQueens. Vcohen (talk) 16:43, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, sorry Vcohen. I accidentally logged out because sometimes my PC does that to me :). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.193.156.117 (talk) 17:49, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I thought you were two different persons. Vcohen (talk) 18:15, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, sorry Vcohen. I accidentally logged out. :) Anyway, I rewrote the article, spelling grammar, and other pieces. All of the information is the same. Also, we need to get rid of the NYCS Const Car thing, because if we try to add another route, we have to add a bulls small x. Put back the form of "T" train.

How do you update the subway routes that run on the R62s and R62As, I don;t know how to get onto NYCS Const Car. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Union Tpke 613 (talkcontribs) 20:46, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I do it by editing the template. However, right now there is nothing to update. Vcohen (talk) 11:50, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Change the picture

[edit]

I say change the picture. The F train image is too old and it is too shadded. So I have removed this from here and replaced this with the erlier A train image. Remember the A took almost all of the R46s from the F from January 2009 to June 2010. So the F train image was very old and dated from 2007.talk 14:37, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I like the picture that you added David Ng. This picture is accurate and good. Just keep it as it is and also over 90% of the R46s are assigned to the A and R Trains. talk 14:22, 7 TrainRK 26 September 2019 (UTC)

R46s on N/W Line

[edit]

Can you add N/W and G to that Line, because there is a fleet swap that is happening between Coney Island Yard and Jamaica yard. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2000:DD50:8C00:344A:D91E:FEE8:9D9D (talk) 00:03, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A quick update for you're information; As of February 24, 2020, the R46's are no longer operated on the (F) line, and only about eleven (11) trains or 88 cars remaining @ Jamaica Yard for the (R) line to be reassigned to Coney Island mostly for the (N)/(W) lines, with some on the (G) & (Q) lines as well, and maybe some more to Pitkin Yard for the beefing-up of the (A), and the (C) lines fleets to resume the normal retirement of the remaining 96 + R32's still assigned there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2000:610B:4600:15D1:E6AD:C40A:709D (talk) 02:32, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Epicgenius: it's pretty obvious that R46s have been roaming on the N and W for a while, but the sources that are decently reliable only state them as being on the Q (probably because the Upper East Side people are complaining about the jump back in time car-wise). Should we still say that R46s are on the N/W? Mtattrain (talk) 18:10, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mtattrain, I think we should revert to what reliable sources say. The Post, for example, only mentions R46s on the Q despite the N/W having them too. Twitter users are remarking about R46s on the N and W (like this) but these are not reliable sources. epicgenius (talk) 18:16, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
> Done Mtattrain (talk) 18:20, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Still since I work for the MTA NYC Transit as a train conductor and I come usually by Astoria Ditmars Boulevard. I have seen R46s on the N and W. The vast majority of the fleet on the N and W (about more than 85%-90%) are now R46s with a few R68s and R68As and R160. Flushing Girl (talk) 16:35, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

> Absolutely, and I would love to have that R46s run on the N/W on Wiki too, but as long as there is no source to back that up, we can't say that without it being challenged by other users on this site. Mtattrain (talk) 21:26, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well as a conductor I found out that N and W are now made up of 85-90% R46s. I’ve been to the Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard Station and I looked at the YouTube videos about the R46 N Train. Flushing Girl (talk) 19:23, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

> Found a source, I would like to believe that we are good for saying R46s are on the N/W now. Mtattrain (talk) 21:34, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well then change front picture of the N Train article to a picture of a chubby R46 N Train going to Astoria Ditmars Boulevard at either 30th Avenue or 39th Avenue. Anyway DjHammers on YouTube confirmed that the last R46’s have left Jamaica Yard and are now transferred to Coney Island Yard. Flushing Girl (talk) 2:37, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

Flushing Girl, why don't you go and take a picture of these ugly fat chicks on the N, Q, and/or W yourself then? Nobody else cares about this dumb swap except for foamers who used to hate them on the A and R yet worship them so much on the N, Q, and W just because the latter three lines now have more variety in terms of fleet assignments now. Any leftover R160s will stick around on the N, Q, and W. Get over it. Seriously, these 45-year old junky cars should have stayed on the R till retirement as it is not guaranteed that Queens Blvd CBTC will be finish on time, as we already saw with Canarsie CBTC and Flushing CBTC, both of which took years after the intended targeted dates to complete the automation. Point blank period. Jemorie (talk) 22:39, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
> Lmfao imagine using ebonics on wikipedia. Mtattrain (talk) 02:27, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
>Mtattrain, you need to stop with your sarcastic and snide responses towards me, alright? Just makes you look even more petty, childish and immature than me. Either say something that contributes to the issue at hand or get lost. Because I bet my money you are soft as a wet little sponge on the kitchen floor in person. Jemorie (talk) 23:39, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well then let us wait until they change the ERA Car Assignment sheet. Anyway no more A and R Trains anymore. Now it is the A and N Trains along with a few on the G and Q Trains. I just suggested that maybe the picture should be changed on the N Train article to a Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard bound chubby R46 N Train at either Broadway or 36th Avenue because User: DjHammers on YouTube confirmed that the R46s are now completely gone from the R Train and the F Train. That means that the E, F, M, and R Lines are made up of R160s. That to my opinion is great and it makes me very happy 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊. Flushing Girl (talk) 2:42, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

Flushing Girl, honestly, just stop. Because now I can tell you're just literally trolling people (myself in particular) who are not fans of this dumb swap, partially out of sheer boredom during this pandemic. The R really does not deserve new cars right now anyway. The R is also one of the least demanding lines in the system as it does not feature what other lines do, and is a part-time route that does not operate its full-length route during late night hours anyway. You didn't suggested anything. You were just trying to be a bossy ass boots by repeatedly telling people to take a picture of the R46s on the N, Q, and W each, and replace the R160 images on those three lines' articles, when in reality, nobody really cares especially since whatever that is left of the R160s will stick around on the N, Q, and W. If you love this swap so much because it gives your precious R line the R160s, more power to you. And that itself is clearly what's wrong with the MTA. As I said billions of times already, just because the ongoing CBTC project on Queens Blvd is scheduled for completion by next year doesn't mean that itself can't change. And there's a higher possibility during unplanned service disruptions, the A, C, N, Q, and W (all using R46s and other older cars) would be rerouted via Queens Blvd without question, further making this Jamaica-Coney Island swap thing utterly pointless; all they had to do was wait till the R211s. I'm officially done entertaining you now. Jemorie (talk) 22:49, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I only just suggested that the picture be changed on the N Train article because of the Fleet Swap between the Coney Island and Jamaica Yards. All R46s have now left Jamaica Yard and the Queens Boulevard Line. I’m not changing or edit warring, I just suggested a change because of the YouTube User DjHammers Who confirmed this week that the last of R46s have now been transferred out of Jamaica Yard. Flushing Girl (talk) 3:17, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

Hopefully the ERA bulletin gets updated soon, or we get an alternate reliable source to prove the existence of R46s on the G, N, and W. Because it's a fact the R46s aren't on the F and R anymore, but these are not in reliable sources, so we can't change it in the infobox yet. No comment on which rolling stock is better on which lines. epicgenius (talk) 16:11, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well hopefully the fat chubby R46 N Trains will have a picture soon on the N Train article. I think that there should be a picture of an Astoria-Ditmars bound train at either 39th Avenue or maybe Broadway. Unless someone takes a picture of the fat chubby R46 N Train and the ERA Bulletin is updated. Anyway thanks for the reminder Epicgenius, I just hope that both DavidNg and Mtattrain gets it. Anyway thanks. Flushing Girl (talk) 02:11, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Route Assigments

[edit]

Routes have been changed by the MTA change them soon. R46s are exclusive on the A,C,G,N,Q,R,W and Rockaway shuttle trains. YxngTriton (talk) 22:32, 4 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Just a quick update - as of March 24, 2020 only 24 R46's remains at Jamaica Yard for service on the (R) line, 5498-5501, 5506-09, 5570-73, 5574-77, 5734-37, 5802-05, and may all be gone soon. These cars listed may be transferred to Pitkin Yard instead to kill-off the remaining R32's on the (C) line.

I just found out that almost all of the R46s have now left the R Train and are now on the N Train. So if anyone can make a front picture in the article for the N Train they should add an image for the Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard Bound R46 N Train for either 30th Avenue or the Broadway. I'm a conductor and I usually come home by these lines.Flushing Girl (talk) 23:58, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I just recently found out that the R46 are no longer assigned to the F and R lines because of a fleet swap and are now assigned to the N, Q, W, and G lines. Can anyone do me a favor and change the assigned services to N, Q, W, and G lines? I appreciate this if it's changed soon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Williamwang363 (talkcontribs) 19:49, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well it would be much better if on the article for the N Train they showed a picture of a Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard N Train at either 30th Avenue or the Broadway. I’m a conductor and I sometimes come home by these lines. So how about it. Flushing Girl (talk) 17:22, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well, sorry for spreading more bad news, the R46’s long career at Jamaica Yard is officially over, with the new B Division Car assignment dated April 24, 2020. Also the final twenty R46's still at Jamaica Yard 5498-5501, 5506-09, 5570-77, 5826-29 has all been transferred over to Coney Island Yard in exchange for a equivalent number of R160BS (Siemen's) cars very recently. This new assignment also has all R32's retired from customer service as well.

Apparently the last run was done weeks ago on the evening of April 8th or 9th of 2020. Please update your front page article page accordingly. Thanks.

That's all for now folks, be well & be safe... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2000:610B:4600:E432:8755:5EFD:4519 (talk) 23:13, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well that’s very sad but you still have to move on in the end. For the N Train article they should add a picture of the Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard bound R46 N Train at either 30th Avenue or Broadway. I’m a conductor and I sometimes come home by Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard. Flushing Girl (talk) 19:52, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Flushing Girl, wait till the ERA Bulletin is updated to add pictures of chubby R46s on the N, Q, and W train articles. Until then, the R160 images on those three lines' articles should not be removed. Jemorie (talk) 03:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well in that case we should add a picture of of the Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard bound chubby R46 N Train at either 30th Avenue or Broadway when the ERA Bulletin is updated. I hope that a picture of an Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard Bound chubby R46 N Train is added soon. Thanks. In the meantime in will still continue to look at YouTube for the R46 N Trains. R46 Builder Plate Image

[edit]

I'll forgo the irrelevant back-and-forth that happened prior and make this simple: Which of the two following images of the R46 builder plate is better for use in the article? Any bias or rationalizations of my own or of Eti15TrSf (the two warring parties) should have no say. I leave this up to everyone else to decide and will accept whatever the majority rules.

Think its a pretty obvious choice of the right one Burnside Avenue (talk)

R46 Retirement

[edit]

Now that the R211s are in passenger service, it only makes sense to make a major update to this article that the R46s has now been retired, and that all previous route assignments for the R46s would be transferred to the R211s. Williamwang363 (talk) 19:20, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

> While the above statement is wrong, @Epicgenius @Davidng913:, how should we approach this with less-relied-on sources (videos of cars missing parts, etc) noting retired cars? Mtattrain (talk) 01:44, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
