Tommie Mabry, MBA (born 1987) is an American author, scholar and advocate for impoverished youth, particularly in his home city of Jackson, Mississippi.[1][2][3]

Career

Mabry was born into poverty in 1987 in Jackson, Mississippi, having a rough childhood, and being expelled from numerous schools by age 11.[4][5] He joined an AAU basketball but was shot in the foot during his senior year, ending his Basketball career.[6][7]

He received a BA in education at Tougaloo College, where he was also elected Mister Tougaloo College in 2011. In 2017 he achived MA in child development. He was hired at Tougaloo College as the Director of Enrollment in 2016.[8][9]

He has also authored a number of books, including “A Dark Journey to a Light Future,”and “If Tommie Can Do It, We Can Do It”.[10][11][12]
