Why are the write in candidates here? Since their names weren't printed on the ballot, they should take a hike.

Actually, being an official write-in candidate requires its own share of paperwork and filing and whatnot. They are on the official state books. What the list doesn't show is all the write-in candidates who weren't official that got votes... Vincent Pallaver, official write-in candidate, may have only received 2 votes, but I guarantee that Mickey Mouse got well over 500 votes. -Captain Highlighter

This should be merged with List of 2003 California recall candidates. --Jiang | Talk 06:56, 9 Dec 2003 (UTC)

How is it possible to have write-in candidates with 0 votes? Also, how do we determine which candidates to link and which not to? 128.12.53.90 00:21, 8 Apr 2004 (UTC)

To be an electable write-in candidate, you have to register and fill out paperwork with the state. Then, if no one writes you in, you get 0 votes. There were probably hundreds of people who were written-in but weren't on the official write-in list. Again, this list doesn't show that Mickey Mouse probably got more write-in votes than any of the official write-in people. Also, it's very easy to get 0 votes if very few people write you in because of errors in the vote count.
