National Day Calendar

National Day Calendar was founded on January 19, 2013 in Mandan, ND by entrepreneur Marlo Anderson. What began as a hobby blogging about his fondness and curiosity surrounding history quickly rippled into one of the biggest movements of our time. The site is now a popular destination for media wanting to know more about how the National Days came to be.

National Day Calendar’s team is responsible for creating close to 400 new National Days including National Avocado Day, National Astronaut Day and National Bobblehead Day. To date, over 20,000 media outlets and personalities follow the National Day Calendar’s daily post and use its content as prep for their daily shows.

National Day Calendar has turned unknown holidays such as National Pizza Day and National Coffee Day into trending topics on social media. The celebrated movement has exploded so remarkably it’s had an impact on the economy. Chinese retailer Alibaba, for example, has capitalized on Singles’ Day (now the largest shopping day of the year!) by promoting it in their marketing as a day to buy something for themselves.^[

National Days is now the #1 Trending topic of all time - At least 450 times a year with giant topics like National Siblings Day, National Margarita Day, and National Puppy Day.

Media members use National Days so frequently they regularly expressed a desire for a printed calendar. In 2015 National Day Calendar heard their pleas and began printing calendars. By 2018 the demand was so large they moved to a national distribution which now prints and distributes upwards of 1 million copies annually.

Starting in 2020 radio stations across the country started featuring 2:30 second radio shorts created by Anderson and co-host Anna Devere around National Days. The Show is broadcast on 300 radio stations and is also available digitally on the National Day Calendar app.

The popular TV Minute “Destination Celebration” featuring National Days is broadcast in 75 Million Households through the 24/7 headline news channel NewsNet and America’s largest local television media company NexStar.

Educators have been able access an online National Day Calendar^® Classroom since 2018 on the National Day Calendar website. The virtual classroom features projects, lessons, puzzles and more developed around observances on the calendar and is free of charge.

Social Daze, an online social media course is scheduled to launch in 2022 and plans for a national social media influencers conference titled Celebration Nation are in the works for Las Vegas NV in conjunction with National Diva Day in late August 2022.

The notion of “Celebrate EVERY DAY even in the darkest hours with an attitude of gratitude and connection.” are at the heart of the jovial organization. It’s not unusual for the team at National Day Calendar to join in the celebration of each day – they intentionally celebrate every day too. Anderson frequently makes appearances for National Days across the country.
