Metinvest is a Ukraine-based holding company of mining and steel assets. It was established on 6 June 2006 by the SCM Holdings.[1][2][3]

Market share

It Ukraine Metinvest controls 50% of the iron ore market, 46% of the baking coal market and 40% of the metal products market.[4]

Management

The major shareholders of Metinvest Group are SCM Holdings, controlled by Rinat Akhmetov, (75%), Smart Group (25%) and Clarandale Limited (5%).[2] Starting from 2006 Igor Syry has been Metinvest's General Director and Chief Executive Officer, Chairman of Executive Committee.[5]

Structure

Metinvest Group has two divisions:

  • Mining Division - mining and processing steelmaking raw materials, i.e. coking coal and iron ore concentrate and pellets.
  • Metallurgical Division - manufacture of crude steel, steel semis and high value added finished steel products: flat and long producs, rails, tubular products

Metinvest comprises 24 assets, located in Ukraine, Europe, the USA:

Metinvest is managing managing each link of the production chain – iron ore and coal mining and coke production through to semi-finished and finished steel production; including the manufacturing of plate and coil, pipe rolling, shapes and bars and other value-added products.[7] Metinvest employs over 80,000 people.[8]
