Dublin Wives (previously Dublin Housewives)is an Irish reality television programe airing on TV3, set in Dublin. The series follows the lives of five of five housewives living in the city; Danielle Meagher, Jo Jordan, Lisa Murphy, Roz Flanagan and Virginia Macari, and introduces viewers to their lifestyles, families and homes.[1]

The programme follows a similar format to the US programme The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills[2] According to the series premise they are "living the dream with handsome husbands, beautiful children, Stylish homes and a fabulous wardrobe."[3] The Irish Mail on Sunday described the series as unscripted, but with the scenarios contrived by the producers.[2]

The Wives

Danielle Meagher

The Botox Queen
Danielle Meagher is the true “alpha female” of the group. Early in life Danielle realised that she wanted to work for herself and is now one of Dublin’s leading Botox Doctors and clinical Director of ‘DermaFace Clinic’. Danielle's strong will has alienated her from the other Wives at times, but she knows when to stand her ground and when to swallow her pride.
Finding time in her busy and glamorous life for the needs of her clients and her busy homelife is never easy, Danielle is the only single one in the group, and has big plans for that to change but at the end of the day she is always on the lookout for love, ideally with a 6’4” international rugby player. However at the moment there is only one special man in Danielle’s life, which is her 9 year old son.

Jo Jordan

The Business Woman
Jo Jordan is a self made entrepreneur and a family woman. Jo who lives a lavish live in Castleknock is quick to reveal that she wasn’t always that fortunate in life, as she did in fact spend her childhood living on the streets, and later in Ballymun.
At the age of 16 she became a mother and has since worked hard to provide for her sons Gavin and Josh and insists that despite her well-earned fortune she loves a good bargain, which shows that she is very wise when it comes to the money side of things. She met her husband, James 10 years ago and together they have built a successful businesses. Joe is relishing in her new independence and has sinced moved out on her own and has big plans to start a makeup line with Lisa so that she can provide for her 2 boys and, and in her own words, "bring in the bacon"

Lisa Murphy

The Tabloid Sensation
Lisa Murphy is glamour girl and well known socialite. Lisa Murphy describes herself as being "a bit of a square" and surprisingly shy. She's always there for her fellow Wives, but does her best to avoid drama and keep out of trouble in her own life.
Lisa the proud owner of her own luxurious beauty salon “A New Lisa Life”, but spends most of her time working and gracing the pages of Dublin's glamorous glossy magazines and brainstorming with Joe about developing their own makeup line. If Lisa is not at home, then shes most likely to be found, at an event, party, or even the golf course.

Roz Flanagan

The Yummy Mummy
Roz Flanagan is the very sweet yummy mummy from county Monaghan, and is the back bone and matriarch of her busy family. Roz along with husband Vincent, have raised four fashionista daughters and built a family food empire.
Roz met Vincent at the age of sixteen, and married him when she was twenty. Roz is a proud mum and delighted that her daughters are grown up and embarking on their own careers. Roz is finding it hard to let go of her daughters, but at the same time she is enjoying having some time to herself. Roz is extremely passionate about her charity work with The Cari Foundation and donates most of her free time to the cause.

Virginia Macari

The Italian beauty
Virginia Macari is a well known fashion designer, actress and model and a multi-talented new mummy. Virginia is Italian born but raised in Cork and hails from the Macari Fish and Chip dynasty. Despite having a jet set lifestyle, Virgnia isn’t one to forget where she came from and has no problem in admitting that she has “flicked a few burgers in her time” but is now more used to an extravagant with the love of her life, Kaste.
Virigina may be a brand new mum to adorable baby Thor, but she is well able to balance being a super-mum while maintaining her socialite status and launching her own bikini line, MISS V Swimwear, but she does have a knight in shining armour to help her along the way.

Name Change

In late 2012, NBC became interested in 'Dublin Housewives' (which is not part of The Real Housewives franchise) and noticed similarities between it and their franchise. After viewing an episode of the show, NBC requested changes be made.

It was agreed between NBC and TV3 that the 'Housewives' title of the series would be replaced by 'Wives' and that Dublin's Spire be removed from the programme's logo, which appeared similar to promotional material for 'The Real Housewives of New York City' which features the iconic Empire State Building.[4]

According to a report in The Irish Independent, the change came after direct contact from NBC which owns The Real Housewives franchise, recently valued by 'The Hollywood Reporter' as being worth upwards of half a billion dollars.

A TV3 source stressed that all contact with NBC had been amicable, and that NBC were impressed by 'Dublin Wives' .[5]
