About me:

I'm a man from southern England who likes improving Wikipedia and making it as near to perfect as possible. In the real world, Wikipedia will never be 100% perfect and there will always be "tug of war" over who's right and who's wrong.

I like articles to tell the full truth — no "cutting corners" and no omissions. If I find something missing, I will do my best to add the information. I'm not one for "burying my head in the sand" — if something needs sorting out, it must be done now. I must admit that my edits put facts before the Wikipedia-style formatting, but others can improve upon the edits already made, which is why Wikipedia works so well, provided people co-operate without squabbling.

Please remember that every Wikipedia article must cater for beginners, not just experts and Wikipedia isn't a place for experts to write articles for other experts. Everyone around the world will be reading pages on Wikipedia, regardless of their level of knowledge on the subject.

Yes I know this is a "no frills" page, but I haven't discovered how to add lots of fancy features and don't feel the need to at the moment, if ever. I'm happy for anyone who would like to volunteer to help me add little boxes, pictures and other things you find on many other users' pages.

Here's three pages on Wikipedia I've extensively worked on in the past, including my views in their "discussion" pages:

I've worked on many pages on Wikipedia, but those three are notable.

A problem I've discovered when editing any Wikipedia page

If you use a word processor and then copy and paste the text from it into a Wikipedia page during editing, you may run into problems with the speech marks/quotation marks being the wrong type; if this happens, you will find that ref links won't work properly. Ref links may appear to be correct, but the wrong type of speech marks (also called quotation marks) will cause problems.

Incorrect speech marks.

The second picture shows the INCORRECT speech marks caused by copying and pasting text from the word processor into my Wikipedia user page. Ref links will NOT work properly if the speech marks match those in the second picture.

Correct speech marks.

The third picture shows the CORRECT speech marks needed in order for ref links to work properly. If you copy and paste text from a word processor into Wikipedia, check your speech marks match those in the third picture. Don't worry if the speech marks are wrong after pasting the text – you can easily change them by deleting them and then retyping the speech marks manually.

I hope reading this is helpful for you.

Humour

I have a good sense of humour and I love the 1970's sitcom Fawlty Towers — THE BEST comedy ever made, in my opinion!

This one is best, at 5 minutes and 21 seconds (title changed by the user to circumvent copyright, so enjoy the video before it vanishes and let me know if it does disappear):

Here's a few (of many) brief and funny clips of Fawlty Towers from the BBC on YouTube:

I really love the classic episodes of the sitcom Only Fools and Horses. Here's a 2:52 clip of a funny episode (no, it isn't the part where Del boy falls through the open bar-flap, most people in Britain have already seen that), this clip shows the Chandelier botch up — very funny:

My name on Wikipedia has nothing to do with the graphics cards with the same name or similar names.
