A common [[urban legend]] is that Ranjit Fernando has a bad case of what is popularly known as 'commentators [[curse]]', especially againts Sri Lankan batsmen. Statistically, Sri Lankan batsmen are immeadiately dismissed within moments of him starting the commentatory, and at times immeadiately upon him uttering the first words. This is more true when the Sri Lankan batsmen are performing particularly well, and have a good batting partnership going. Ranjith Fernando's curse againts Sri Lankan batsmen is a better weapon for breaking a partnership than a bowling change by the opposing captain. Allegedly he is not only the worst commentator that is in the business, he is so supportive towards the Opposition. He is considered to be very supportive towards the other side when they are of the so called "Master Race" ( when the opposition is White) when Sri Lanka play Bangladesh he is not so bad. Edward Ranjit Fernando (born February 22, 1944, Colombo) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who played three ODIs, all of which were during the 1975 Cricket World Cup during which he was the wicket-keeper and opening batsman. He later worked as the team manager for the Sri Lankan cricket team, and as a cricket commentator.

Urban Legend
