Paul Thompson was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland 13 May 1951. He lived in Jarrow from the age of six months and attended West Simonside Infants and Junior School. He is an English drummer best known for his work with the rock band Roxy Music from 1971 to 1980 and 2001 to the present day.[1]

Between 1980 and 2001 he was drummer in the Oi! band, The Angelic Upstarts and The American alternative rock band Concrete Blonde. He joined the Ray Laidlaws's Lindisfarne in 2013.
