Are you really planning on banning the Web site TheFederalist.com? That would be a huge mistake in my opinion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:5B0:21FF:1CF0:0:0:0:38 (talk) 00:52, 1 October 2014 (UTC) |

Hello help desk, want to know if my recent article Dr.Sunil Karad is fine, as it has a window popping up about the reference, which i have already mentioned, but the window stating about deletion of content still exists, kindly advise — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.111.61.66 (talk) 12:41, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- You misspelt Karad's name in the name of the article and your question. You omitted a space after Dr. You'll need to move your article to Sunil Karad.

Bus system in Fraser valley bc
Hey there. What is the best way to get from Langley BC to Abbotsford bc that doesn't involve a car? The buses out there are real slow.............. Venustar84 (talk) 16:02, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- Assuming you mean "doesn't involve driving my own car", you can get a taxicab: [1]. That option may be prohibitively expensive, but it is there. Otherwise, the slower bus system may be your only option. As they say, it's either your time or your money; you get to decide which is more valuable to you. --Jayron32 16:06, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- If by bus you mean Translink's territory to BC Transit's territory, you are out of luck. Public transit doesn't connect the two (yet, but it's coming soon). So taxis or walking is it, or Greyhound-type buses. Mingmingla (talk) 17:31, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- You can ask at http://britishcolumbia.askalo.ca.—Wavelength (talk) 18:41, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- Actually, there does seem to be a way to connect from BC Transit to TransLink. TransLink's Route 503 runs from Langley to Aldergrove (see map), where it connects with BC Transit's Route 21 (see map), which runs from Aldergrove to Abbotsford. Schedules are here and here. - I had a fanciful thought: if it's bad enough, you might consider catching a Whatcom County bus from Blaine to the Sumas/Abbotsford crossing. I wonder how much pedestrian traffic the various crossings get. —Tamfang (talk) 04:31, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
World Cup Colors
Is there a list of the main team colors for the teams in the world cup? 209.149.115.99 (talk) 18:47, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- Assuming you mean the most recent year, if you go to 2014 FIFA World Cup, in the section "Participating teams and officials", you can click on each team's name, and that will bring you to a page where their kit is shown in the infobox on the right. I hope that helps! --Jayron32 18:54, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
There are some very cool sources available to help you answer this question. First, it's important to remember that only a small number of countries (relatively speaking) qualify for the World Cup tournament, so there will be some years where certain countries may not have a uniform. More details about past participants and qualifications can be found on the FIFA World Cup qualifications page. The Guardian has a very impressive application that will show you detailed uniform information dating all the way back to 1930 (the year of inception). You can also find similar uniform information, indexed by tournament year, at historicalkits.co.uk. If you are only looking for 2014 World Cup uniforms, you can easily find them, as well as other apparel, through FIFA's official store. Additionally, FIFA has listed very detailed information about uniform requirements in their Equipment Regulations document, including limitations on the number of colors a team can choose, how prominent they can and cannot be, and even the colors of the apparel worn by goalkeepers. Dan the romad (talk) 21:38, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
No there is not, however there are other ways to find out the main team colors of FIFA World Cup teams. Like stated in an earlier reply you can go to 2014 FIFA World Cup and find team colors by going to each page individually. Another way you can find out team colors is by looking at the team Kits I found two pages with pictures of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Kits. The first shows team kits in detail in both home and away colors but only shows the shirts. The second shows a more compact view of all the team kits in addition to each teams flag. The second link also includes shorts and socks for both home and away kits. FosterBrady (talk) 21:54, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- From what I can see, from all the resources pointed out, the World Cup teams do not have colors. They choose them as they see fit from year to year. I was under the impression that if a team chose to use Blue and Yellow as the team colors, they kept those colors from year to year. So, I will omit this from what I'm working on - which is an attempt to correlate popular team colors with regions. For example, I found strong correlations between regions and colors in the United States using the team colors for the NFL, MLB, and NBA - which do not change from year to year - which also means that once you buy your silver and black outfit, you can assume it will be good to cheer for the Oakland Raiders for many years to come. 209.149.115.99 (talk) 17:32, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
- For some teams, but not always. Pittsburgh, for example, has generally always used yellow and black for all its sports teams (Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins). However, there are some teams that have not, historically, been able to settle on a color scheme for any length of time. The Houston Astros for example have had Blue & Orange, Orange-Yellow-Black, Navy Blue & Yellow, Black & Red, and back now to Blue & Orange as color schemes. The Cleveland Cavaliers have had a bewildering array of different color schemes at different times. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a rather famous old "Creamsicle" orange-and-white jerseys, and then abruptly changed them to red and pewter-gray. As a counter argument, some World Cup soccer teams have had the same color schemes for years. There's a reason the Italians are the Azzuri in their familiar blue uniforms. It's hard to imagine Brazil using something other the yellow shirts with the green trim and blue shorts as their primary kit. England seems rather committed to white as their primary colored shirts, and Argentina has used sky blue striped jerseys for almost a century. So I don't know that either premise is universally true. Countries DO have traditional colors for their national teams, and many American professional teams have changed colors frequently. --Jayron32 18:06, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
- I'd be interested in what your informal research has shown about colors and regions. Many American professional teams tend to keep the same colors for a long time, especially the ones that are nationally prominent. The New York Yankees adopted their basic style in the late 1920s or so, and in a way they are almost stuck with it. The pin stripes and the NY are so bound to the Yankees that any significant change could be a marketing disaster. Smaller markets and/or teams with shorter histories tend to feel more free to tinker with their colors. Hence the Houston Colt .45s / Astros example cited by Jayron. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 18:34, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

yusuf Estes TV programs
Sheikh Yusuf Estes did some programs but I am not sure how many episodes did each contain. For example, "Misconceptions" contain 26 episodes but I doubt there more episodes to that. My question is that how many tv series did he host and how many did they contain, each individually? Oh....by the way, most of them were broadcasted on Huda TV. Please and thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.29.35.93 (talk) 00:05, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

Are they real?
How come I don't see women this attractive in real life? http://imgur.com/lWA318O http://pstutorialsws.deviantart.com/art/Premium-Looks-Photoshop-Actions-441454718. (The first image was stretched horizontally I tried to resize it so the face still probably looks a bit wide). Do women close to those without makeup even exist? It's always a disappointment when you look at them close up in real life, but those pics and many others are close up shots and they are still gorgeous. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Money is tight (talk • contribs) 02:56, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- There are 7 billion people in the world. Some of them are bound to be attractive enough for you. --Jayron32 03:24, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- You mean 3.5 billion, I'm not bisexual. What im complaining about is that all the women i've seen are a disappointment up close without makeup or good lighting, which is what i really care about: that natural everyday look. I've seen decent looking ones but they just don't make my heart jump unlike those pics and others. Maybe it's because i haven't been out much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Money is tight (talk • contribs) 03:30, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

- Yes, Ogden Nash said it elegantly. That's a recurring theme. I like the way Flip Wilson put it: "You marry a beautiful woman, eventually she turns ugly. You marry an ugly woman, get a few drinks in you, and she starts lookin' good!" ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 17:51, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

- You don't see women who look like that in reality because you're not seeing women who spent an hour having a professional put their makeup on - then have endlessly tweaked lighting - and finally having every tiny imperfection 'adjusted' in Photoshop. It's very likely that such an appearance never happens 'for real' at all.
- There are endless numbers of videos on YouTube exploring this. For example this shows the value of makeup this shows how lighting makes a difference and this shows what Photoshopping an image can do. With these three technologies, we can make absolutely anything look like anything else - what you see in photos of celebrities can be as real or as fake as you can imagine. The sequence of tweaks done in this photograph take an ugly guy in a wig and turn him into a female supermodel. If an expert on what is considered beautiful is let loose with these tools, the result can be literally unattainable by any real woman - including the one in the original photograph.
- So, you're basically doomed. Fortunately (as I'm sure you'll one day discover) - what makes for the PERFECT partner has very little to do with superficial beauty - so if you decide you're only interested in meeting people who come even remotely close to what you see in glossy magazine covers - you're going to miss out on the person who would have made you happier over the remainder of your life than the most stunning looks could ever possibly deliver. SteveBaker (talk) 17:54, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- The most beautiful part of any woman (and the most enduring) is the part between the ears. That can be difficult to understand when you're young and... let's say "frustrated". ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 18:07, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- SteveBaker i know what you're trying to say but i dont even find most females celebs with all that glamour makeup attractive. Only a few movie stars comes close to the first pic i posted (Imogen Poots in Centurion comes close). It's not that im frustrated because i want women who look like that, as these supermodels/movie stars are far out of my league and only the most devilishly handsome rich bad boy can get them, im just confused because i dont see any of them in real life. You say photoshop/makeup/lighting makes a big difference, yes i agree, but surely those women must be a bit stunning naturally to begin with. I have seen quite decent naturally looking women IRL, but the few stunning ones IRL (none as good as first pic though) are very clearly covered in makeup and had their hair colored to look pretty, whereas in the first pic i posted i can only tell she has skin makeup (no human has skin like that up close), and maybe some lipstick. Money is tight (talk) 01:01, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- In her day, Sophia Loren couldn't look unattractive even if she tried. Even with messed-up hair, dirty face, grubby peasant attire...[2] Here are some 1955 photos (see sheet 9/12) taken at home, without glamour makeup or designer clothes, (albeit professionally photographed):[3] —71.20.250.51 (talk) 01:55, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- Seriously, what kind or bee ess is this? It should have been hatted before a single answer was given. Does this need to go to ANI? μηδείς (talk) 01:56, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- This could also be handled as a probability exercise, if we view the chances of each body part being "perfect" as an independent event. Let's say we say each has a 10% chance of being perfect, or at least close enough to it for you. Then, if they have maybe 20 body parts you care about, the chance that any one woman will have all 20 be perfect would be 0.120, or you'd need a line of 1020 women to find one perfect one. Your chances of finding her are not good, using those numbers. But if you only require that each body part be in the top 50%, and only care about 10 body parts, then 1 in every 1024 women would meet your specs. Of course, the chances that you would also meet her specs are not good. StuRat (talk) 02:12, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- You can't really use probability like that because (as we discussed a week or two ago) "beauty" is really "average-ness". The most average looking person is the one that most people find most beautiful. So simply multiplying the odds of perfection doesn't capture the fact that each feature is effectively in the center of a bell-curve of probabilities. SteveBaker (talk) 17:30, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
- Snickers unhatted this, but in truth the OP has already gotten the best answers he's likely to get. Makeup means a lot. If he saw Kim Kardashian on the street "bare-faced" he might not even recognize her. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 00:00, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

I am looking for information about apple "Mayflower",also photo's of blossom and fruit — Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.236.157.181 (talk) 07:00, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- It doesn't appear on our List of apple cultivars, or on this fairly comprehensive website (linked from our article). The only reference I've found so far is this, which has a photo of the fruit. Tevildo (talk) 11:32, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- I'm sure you mean a real, literal "apple", but just in case, Podophyllum peltatum is called a "may apple" and also sometimes "may flower" (among many, many other names). Matt Deres (talk) 13:50, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
European Growth
What was the political, economic, and social importance of the establishment of cities? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.11.60.6 (talk) 15:50, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- This looks like a homework question to me - and we don't do other people's homework. You could start by looking at our city article, to see how people have defined the term - and then look at our civilisation article, as the social differentiation that is often seen as the beginnings of 'civilised society' is also often seen as a distinguishing feature of cities. AndyTheGrump (talk) 16:00, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- Politically, each new city enabled a new set of mayoral races, allowing people to avoid getting real jobs. Economically, this opened those real jobs to other people (provided the elected guy didn't disallow them). Socially, more people began living in cities instead of not living in them. Handing this in will at least prevent you from receiving an "incomplete" mark, if this is homework. InedibleHulk (talk) 01:59, October 6, 2014 (UTC)
sniffer dogs
Is a sniffer dog a copper because it is doing the work of a policeman and what rank is it? Horatio Snickers (talk) 20:52, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- According to our article (Police dog), "In most states [of the USA], a police dog is considered a full-fledged police officer, sometimes even given a badge", cited to this article on Slate.com. Tevildo (talk) 22:05, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- Detection dog is our article relating to sniffer dogs, which doesn't differentiate those "employed" by police agencies. The article could use some info on that. 71.20.250.51 (talk) 22:19, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- If a police dog bites you, he counts as a cop as far as excessive force suits go (meaning he's far harder to succesfully sue than a civilian dog). Of course, that probably varies from place to place. Not all sniffers are police dogs, and not all police dogs are sniffers. InedibleHulk (talk) 00:23, October 6, 2014 (UTC)

How far in the future are the next ~$200 FPGA boards? If I googled right Xilinx's zedboard/microzed/picozed line (z70XX fpgas) dates back to 2012/2013.
