Hi Moscowconnection, thanks for the reply! I believe these names "Chiimu Ee", "Chiimu Bii", "Chiimu Kee", "Chiimu Foo" are not well know and are actually romanization of alphabets into Japanese. Therefore, they should not be used as per guidelines. Also, about the sources, Tokyograph is not considered a reliable source, sadly. It can only be used when the original article is deleted. And about the Japanese part, Wikipedia allows foreign language sources. Therefore, even if most people cannot read, we still have to put in the most reliable source. Btw, the latter doesn't seem right cause her Japanese Wikipedia page lists a commercial for Pizza-La.

Just wanted to take a moment and say thank you for trimming some of the births you put into the Days of the year pages yesterday. I or someone else would have eventually trimmed them to fit the page format. Just to let you know while I'm here, I undid 3 of your edits yesterday, 1 for being in the wrong date page (I only remember it was placed in August instead of April, date number was correct though, possibly 16), and 2 for having conflicting birth dates within the articles with no citations. Hi Moscowconnection, thanks for helping to improve Japan-related culture. You are right to say that I am not really a big fan of AKB48, since I haven't even attended one of their regular concerts in my country. Furthermore, I am a newbie to this group, so I have made many errors in my edits regarding them. On that note, thanks for pointing out these mistakes.
However, I would like to point out that articles have been ruined because fans of that particular topic spammed the article with too much fan-related information. I want to keep AKB48 articles free of this type of occurrence.
Lastly, I need some help to find more references. As you might have noticed, I have been adding {{citation needed}} tags to sections that lacks them. I am trying my best to avoid these tags, but I really do not know where to find more references. Can you help in this task? There are too many sentences explaining how the hell the name is supposed to be written or read. There is nothing inherently wrong about the way I included the katakana because I have not done so in a way that is implying that it is written in Japanese by the katakana. I ahve included it as part of the pronunciation. Do we really need two sentences explaining "C-ute" is pronounced as the English word "Cute"? And why should Japanese text be omitted when you already have the Hepburn romanization on the page. This is getting out of "I disagree with the current formatting" and more "Stay away from my pages" with your reverts. I haven't misinterpreted the rules for CSD. I read all the criteria at CSD, and use twinkle to select the correct G6 submission. This is because its an unnecessary and orphaned disambiguation page; when Cute (disambiguation) page already exists covering the same disambiguation rules. I encourage your enthusiasm in becoming a good editor and creating as many new articles as possible. It is basically informing the administrator to remove the tag if they feel the article doesn't meet the criteria it has been nominated for. Slow down in future and wait to see if editors reply back to you before rushing off and doing something, there are no deadlines on Wikipedia.. This alone proves the fact that you rushed in removing the template tag before waiting for me to reply back to you. Also at Talk:Cute (Japanese band) you asked if we need to used Cute (band) page as a disambiguation. Before waiting for me to give you a reply to your question, you went ahead anyway and created the page - whereas if you waited a little while you would have noticed there wasn't a need to make the article. All the templates used are pre-worded templates, and I'm unable to re-word them without posting it first and then manually altering afterwards. I've had a gander over at the article - looking impressive now. However, I thought I should point out on the infobox (right-hand side of article), where it says Website should really have the band's official website page, and not the URL of their YouTube channel. This could do with being fixed, to keep in accordance with manual of style for infobox parameters. BOT's are prone to do random checks and may end up removing that link if it doesn't recognise it as the official page.
Also, it may be worth taking a break from the article too. The page history only shows you as being the single-editor on the article,which to the community can be seen as someone taking ownership of articles; so please be cautious there; as this would be violating one of the five pillars. I'm removing all those videos from all those infoboxes. We are not a directory of links, and the plethora of them only serve to strengthen the idea that these pages are like fan sites. Sorry, but it's not the purpose of Wikipedia to exhaustively list, let alone link, everything. I watched one of those videos (and need to wash my eyes now) on the official cutechannel, and they start with a fifteen-second add--so they promote the band as well as the companies that advertise on the band's YouTube channel. Not sure if you know or not, but from what I gather the importance scales are suppose to be set at "low" and then it is up to the project to change them accordingly. If the importance is left unassessed, then the article will be listed as unassessed. Otherwise, no one from a project will simply come to assess it. For this particular article, it will be most probably set to Low for any non-Japanese projects, but still it doesn't seem right to decide fot them. A list of what the importance scales mean can be found at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Release Version Criteria#WikiProject importance assessments. From what that link reads, members of a project or external interests can scale the level of importance. Based on the article being of a specialised subject, its level would be low for WP:Media and WP:Journalism - as the guidance reads LOW = subject is mainly of specialist interest. There is a particular manual of style also used on article talk pages. A user can restyle the comments to put things into an easy-readable flow; as long as they don't alter the wording. You're making it sound like I altered everything you written when I hadn't. And I have apologised above explaining the outdent was placed on the wrong line. Why are you being so harsh with me Moscow? I really don't understand the behaviour lately. Remember just how delicate I am at the moment, and such wordings are likely to spark me off, which is something I don't need right now - geeze its the funeral tomorrow, so it is very easy for me to do typo errors. My stubbornness got the better of me, and all I've done is just snap people's heads off. The hardest thing will be this coming week, when the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 is on TV. I till cannot find much (not to mention reliable sources) regarding AKB48 before 2008 or 2007. Can you point me in the right direction. Oh, as for the Korean groups, I have narrowed down to Girls' Generation and TVXQ. I choose the former because it is currently nominated for GA and has undergo massive restructuring, while TVXQ has a strong Japanese connection. Nogizaka46 controversy included in AKB48 article
Hi, I mentioned this on the AKB48 article's talk page the other day, but I thought I'd ask again here. What reason is there to include the information about Nogizaka46's choreography controversy on the article for AKB48? As far as I can see, it has no place there. It should be included on Nogizaka46's article, and possibly even Akimoto Yasushi's article, but it has no connection to AKB48. I wanted to leave the part because it makes the article better. It's recent, interesting, entertaining. We need to give people something to read, something to return to Wikipedia for. Also, it ends the otherwise dull "Controversies" section on a happier note. I know we will have to remove the info sooner or later. But hopefully I will expand and rewrite the section by then. Okay. I will read WP:REDIRECT#NOTBROKEN thoroughly now. I'm not enthusiastic about redirects and I was not going to fix the whole Wikipedia. I've already finished with links to Cute. What I did is very convenient for me. The problem is that in the past I've added links to Cute instead of Cute (Japanese band). Since Cute redirects to Cuteness instead of a disambiguation page, no bot notified me about it. I have to look through the list of articles that link to Cute periodically. So, I thought that if I make the list smaller, it will be easier next time. It kind of worked cause today I fixed a link to Cute (Japanese band) that I never noticed before. Now the list is short and I will be able to detect wrong links easily. Also, a few months ago I changed all links to the group to point to Cute (Japanese band) directly. I was simply undoing your edit: Adding back the birth years, sourced from a giant Korean entertainment site. (Wherever they got them from, they published them where you replaced the existing citation: <ref name="2ne1jpprofile" /> with http://kids.daum.net/kids/do/fun/theme/themeView?id=381. So I thought that for you to say: Adding back the birth years... the old citation i.e. "<ref name="2ne1jpprofile" />" was not working, otherwise why bother adding another, unofficial, citation to replace the official one? Do you see my point? I also saw that your new citation had the words "kids" and "fun" in its url. This did not sound to me like a very reliable source. It actually sounded like kids' stuff, i.e. something completely unreliable. So I undid your edit and I put back the old reference, which was more reliable as it was from the official website of the group. Replacing a link about kids stuff with the older, more reliable link, is good practice, not vandalism. I reduced the number of red links, removed the linking of the same artist and article twice -which in a short article such as 1830m makes it looks cleaner-, I abbreviated the artists already listed because it seems to be practiced used by the project as a whole when it comes to other music articles and lastly I removed the repetitive nihongo tags per MOS:JAPAN. The article looked a little less cluttered that way but you didn't see that only reverted. It says it in the first paragraph of that link (Generally, Japanese script for a word can be added to the text the first time it is introduced, provided that the word is not linked to another article on the English Wikipedia.) While it is apart of the title it is the order of the name is what I'm referring to. I just removed a dozen videos and a half a dozen covers from this article--that amount of "information" for an article on a single, and not a very notable one at that, is beyond ridiculous. You have been told by more than one person exactly why what you're doing is wrong on this project. Admins are required to enforce what wikipedia is for ... complaining otherwise as vociferously as you will not end well. If you truly think you wish to ignore the rules others have provided, and believe the admin has misused their admin powers, then file an WP:RFC/ADMIN. It seems like K-pop is to the music project what Tennis is to the sports project - the particular branch where a bunch of pointless information is added to articles, and completely pointless articles are created. You can have a million reliable sources for an edit, but I suggest you read things like WP:FANCRUFT/WP:LISTCRUFT, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS and WP:ISNOT to realize that the edit may still be inappropriate. The English Wiki, as has been noted by many other people, is a lot more stringent than other Wikis, and promotional fluff has no place here - and rightly so. Tracklistings and the information about who sings what can't be promotional, it's essential information for every release. I think tracklists are even necessary per WP:Albums guidelines. Drmies has created some articles like that too, I suggest you delete the Personnel and Track listing sections from here: Uniko (album), Kronos Quartet (album), Kronos Quartet Performs Alfred Schnittke: The Complete String Quartets. There is a lot of unnecessary information. I don't need it, do you? Let's delete it. The tracklists and the lists of personnel are unsourced, too. You all must understand that most articles about J-pop and K-pop that are being created in the English Wikipedia are about the top acts in their countries. You can't compare them with a person who ranked in the United States at the bottom of Billboard Hot 100. Look at this deletion discussion, for example. Drmies proposed the article for deletion, and suddenly the single happened to be the 13th best-selling single in Japan in 2012. "Manatsu no Sounds Good!" is simply the best selling single of 2012. Stop ignoring what people say. No one is questioning the notability of all of these artists, songs etc, but people are rightly pointing out that there is an absolutely absurd amount of information being added into K-pop and J-pop articles, or that they're just complete messes, when the right place is in between. Take Loud (Rihanna album) for example. It's a good article, and it has a sentence or two on each song, a little more for the more notable songs. Everything is well formatted, and well layed out. Now let's go to, say, Koko ni Ita Koto. The track listing is an utter mess, information is missing left, right, and centre. Let's look at the Virginity song. Drmies was absolutely correct to propose it for deletion: yes, it charted, and yes, it charted highly. But the version he proposed for deletion failed WP:NSONG as it contained NOTHING about the song whatsoever, in terms of information. Even now, as it stands, it STILL violates WP:NSONG, as there's basically nothing other than lists in the article, although the AfD has probably shown that it can be made to pass that guideline. Track lists are necessary; however, anything that is not in the main release should be collapsed, and they should have some vague efforts at formatting them. Drmies' edit to Manatsu no Sounds Good! was not perfect, I do think he cut a bit too much, but some of the sections, such as the background section, were clearly written with promotional fluff, and some were just total messes, like the Members section. I've given the releases appropriate weight on the article with a prose paragraph. The tracklists are highlighting just the differences. 1. Read this: Template:Did you know nominations/Momoiro Clover Z. It would be nice if you added something to the article too, some clever text. It would help the nomination and it would make the article better. 2. I moved everything to Momoiro Clover Z discography, it will be much safer there. The single released as Momoclo Tei Ichimon is also on the discography page, but I thought it was a bit out of place in the very short table that was left in the main article. For example, Morning Musume also released a single under a different name, and it is not even on the list of their singles. I think it's better like this. 3. I removed the slogans cause they were unsourced. It was necessary for the "Did you know" nomination. I placed a copy of my rewrite of the Concept and Membership section in my User:AngusWOOF/sandbox. Please review that and mark it up with clarifies. I don't see where anything there is majorly wrong, but I have removed the stuff about counting Senbatsu members as the rules change for every election and tournament. Waiting Girls and added citation needed for the other election singles that needed referencing. I also updated the member count per the official site which DOES count Kenkyusei as members. The "research students" term is used in Yahoo and other media references. There is no more Team 4; they disbanded according to the calendar. The source is at the end of the paragraph, it says "Despite sticking out on the bill, Momoiro’s intricate J-pop fit in well at a festival full of similar forward-thinking acts." There was another source, this one, it says "Even if you think the result sounds horrible, it is progressive in its own way, and the idols that get the most attention from the experimental fringes tend to be the more musically ambitious ones." I'll add it back now.
The source says "The first, "Z Densetsu~Owarinaki Kakumei~" (Z legend, never-ending revolution), is a light-hearted squadron-hero parody." But I will add another reference from the article about the single ("Z Densetsu: Owarinaki Kakumei").
The band is "providing". It wasn't me who wrote the sentence.

It's not dumb. :D I think "they" made it intentionally hard to find a way to do it. First, you need to be logged in. Then, you need to find yourself at the address where you want to create a page. I use Method 1, sometimes 2 or 3.
Search for something using the searchbox in the top right corner. For example, for "Fairies vs. Ninjas". Wikipedia will say «You may create the page "Fairies vs. Ninjas", but consider checking the search results below to see whether the topic is already covered.» Click on the red link "Fairies vs. Ninjas". An edit box will open.
Or, you can just type "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairies_vs._Ninjas" or "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairies vs. Ninjas" in the address bar. You'll see a page saying «Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name.» and there will be a "Create" button in a corner.
Open any Wikipedia article, write "[[Fairies vs. Ninjas]]". Don't click "Save page", click the "Show preview" button. You'll see a red link to "Fairies vs. Ninjas". Click it and there will be the same page with a "Create" button as described in Method 2.

For the AKB48 discography music videos section, I recommend removing the album and no. reference, so that it just lists the video, director, performance group if it lists a title other than AKB48, and then add a column for notes and references, as with Beyoncé_Knowles_videography#List_of_music_videos. The music video can always be linked back to the appropriate singles articles. Notes can be used for video charting or details like the large number of extras for Koi Suru, or how that sister group made 63 different versions of the same music video and set a Guinness World Record as a result. -AngusWOOF (talk) 14:45, 18 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's a good idea to remove the single titles, leaving just the numbers. Especially since the first track is the title track. But I'm against removing the numbers cause I think it's important to group all the videos like that. And surely, if some song is not listed as a song by a team of a subgroup/unit, it's not necessary to repeat "AKB48, AKB48" every time. No worries. It's an online way to listen to the songs and support the bands. I added some track lengths based on what they listed there; it might be off by a second depending on what list to view (webpage for spotify instead of what's in spotify itself). I think the only right place to find track lengths is the CDs. So we should better trust the Japanese Wikipedia and just copy all track lengths from there. By the way, since you are here... :))) In the tables you created for all the AKB48 members, there's a column named "role". I think it's rather misleading, cause I don't think there's such thing as a "main role". If you mean "media sembatsu", write "media sembatsu". If you mean "main vocals" (like, the ones who have solo parts), write "main vocals". If you mean the front row of 5 or 7 singers or something, then better write a fan name for that. I understand that a research would be needed for each single to do that, so probably the easiest way is to write "A-side" the same way you wrote "B-side". Regarding track lengths, yes, the best would be the CD cover or insert if available; I can leave a comment in each section where it refers to it as source (cover insert, Japanese wikipedia, iTunes/Spotify/music service). For Role, I treat it like a filmography of whether they participated on the title track and whether they are the center. I've just redirected "Off vocal" to "Backing track". I found the right word for this a long time ago, but forgot to redirect. That's what it is, a backing track, not a karaoke version. There are no backing vocals probably because there are no backing vocals on AKB48 songs. :) But I'm not sure. In short, in my 3 edits you reverted: 1. I reverted Suzuka Nakamoto's birth date to the correct one. 2. I added a link to a newly created article about Suzuka Nakamoto. 3. I changed the romanization of the title "ヘドバンギャー!!" to the way it is officially written by the band (see this). "ヘドバンギャー!!" is not "Headbanger!!". They wrote the word differently in Japanese (longer, cuter sounding last syllable) and they also write it differently in English. Firstly they are forbidden if used for external linking purposes. They can be used for citations within a prose, but not as an external link. It is because they are classified as promotional material, and wikipedia is not for promotional material. An admin told you 18 months ago about this, and you acknowledged them. So why now have you decided to disregard their advice? The links themselves contain adverts, which is against policy. The YouTube channel you linked belongs to the EBU, and they are very strict when it come to copyright violating. Believe me, I was forced to take a YT link off my own Facebook page that I linked from Eurovision Channel, and I was not impressed when the EBU threatened to take legal action against me. Do you really think the Wikipedia bosses would be overly pleased if they got threatened by the EBU for having a link which you posted? Who do you think they'd come chasing after first? I'm only watching your back at the end of the day, as you are a good editor. I'd hate to see you get in trouble over a YT link. If people want to view YT then they are capable of doing so themselves, we're not here to hold viewers hands. We're here to provide research material. Let's stick to the sole purpose of Wikipedia shall we.
It isn't a case of what you like, it is what the Wikipedia community has imposed. Wikipedia is not here to be linking to every god forsaken site via external links. There is a limitation as well as common sense on what we can and cannot link. That's why there are policies that explicitly state this. Threatening to keep reverting will only result in your account getting blocked for exceeding WP:3RR, and they can range from 24 hours up to 3 months or more. Do you really want to have your editing privileges stopped just for the sake of "making something prettier because that's how you want it"? C'mon, time to be proper and grown up here. Wikipedia is for providing written material, use YouTube in citations, but not for the sake of giving someone a place to go watch the music video, or full replay of the contest. I'm not sure what y'all are talking about, which articles in which links. I have interacted with Moscow Connection over various things including video links, but in the context of K-pop articles. We have guidelines and policies, of course, but before that we have common sense and editorial practice, not to mention context: what is fine in one article may not be fine in another, and a lot depends on the function of the link and the content and author of the video in question. Moscow Connection was nice enough to ping me in one of their comments, by the way, so notifying me wasn't necessary and, at any rate, I don't feel "dragged" into anything. Let me add also that I don't believe I have acted toward Moscow Connection in my capacity as an administrator, only as an editor. Without specific context, I have to assume that the business of these video links is an editorial matter possibly containing interpretation of a guideline, and not primarily some kind of violation, so a. I don't feel the need to put on my admin hat and b. whatever I told Moscow Connection earlier was not (if memory serves me right) some kind of administrative edict. It's all this "a picture speaks a million words" fiasco. 1. it is video, not a picture. 2. this is an encyclopaedia using primarily written prose, not a YouTube directory, and 3. there's such thing as a script which actually does describe what happened in a video performance (so words do in fact describe the video). And for the fact that you have said the links are there to help guide a reader to YT to watch the performances again, does not serve as an encyclopaedic point of view. It just makes it look like we're hosting YT links just for the sake of cosmetic purposes. Like I keep saying, if someone is purposely going looking for a YouTube link, then they would visit YouTube first, not here. A person's intellect is not that stupid that they'd come to Wikipedia first to search for a YT link. People visit Wikipedia to research on whatever it is they are researching. Just like people visit YouTUbe to purposely search for videos. To put into a different perspective; would you go to YouTube and search for a Wikipedia article? No, you'd come here to do that. So I see no purpose for us to be using YT clips in the external sections just to highlight a replay of a contest or a replay of a song. If we started to put these videos on every Eurovision/Junior Eurovision, then it would turn us into some sort of YouTube directory, especially when there's well over 1000 entries combined. So if you could find the video on YouTube, then I'm 99.9% sure the rest of the human race is capable of doing the same. If you find something that passes WP:RS for the death metal claim, that's fine. The edit commentary "they say they are death metal, so they are death metal" is roughly the most ridiculous thing I've heard all day. That is absolutely the antithesis of how WP works. make sure your reliable source is independent and printed in some professional source, preferably print. Webzines totally fail the criteria, so if using an online source it has to be one that has elsewhere been published by an independent, third-party professional body (hence we allow Allmusic and MusicMight, but not Metal Archives or Japanverse). I've added a nice English-language source for other genres: [11]. Barks (ja) is a reliable music news site. There have been plenty of articles about them in the Japanese media, they are very popular. I can find some more if it is needed. But I think it's enough. As for the song "BABYMETAL DEATH" being death metal, it is also said here, for example: [12]. ("デスメタルナンバー" means "death metal number", search for it.) I couldn't find any source for "melodic death metal", though. There are multiple people there who agree with the current state of the article, because most of the opposition is to my original complete deletion of the tables and vote information, and the discussion is currently underway as to where the vote stuff is supposed to go. My version adds the proper way to write the names of many of the members of the group where there were errors before, removes the prefectures, and adds their current ages. Simply because you think it's ugly doesn't mean you're right and I'm wrong. Stop reverting. Participate in the talk page discussion. Do not change anything because there were so many mistakes before. The origins of the name of a band or any other subject is such a basic information, no wonder many articles at Wikipedia have sometimes entire sections covering etymology. Since when the official website of a band is the only valid source? Not everything about a topic will be in its official website, you know. That's why we have magazines, newspapers, books, etc. And how do you know they simply "decided to invent a clever story" for the name? Blabbermouth is a reliable source, but I will add a direct link to Razor TV since that's the precise source. If you're still somehow against the addition of sourced valid information, you are invited to explain your reasons at the topic I just created at the article's talk page. I'm really sorry about the article. I reacted with mild shock when I saw it in the preparation area for the Main Page. I know you have put in a lot of effort into it, and it's easy for someone to just come in and criticise it to death. I can understand how you might be feeling, and I hope you will not be driven away by this minor setback. This could have been avoided if the dyk reviewer was more experienced and gave you hints to improve it, but I'm disconcerted that it seems that's not what DYK reviews are about. I would like you to keep in mind what you said to Darkness Shines about a "stable state", but regarding this article. I think that having both pro-Russian and pro-Ukrainian terms is stable; if you will notice, I did not delete the part that said "accession", I simply made it an alternate title ("also called by some the accession of...."); this is to reflect the global majority-minority ratio on the topic. Probably 80% of the world...and literally every reliable English source I have seen...refers to it as "annexation"; the other 20%'s, a.k.a. "the minority's", view is reflected secondarily.
After altering another, unrelated user's edit to the article, it seems to be fully neutral now; as the in-page title (though awkwardly) now reflects the truest neutrality. Since you and I both are very strongly biased on opposing sides, let us compromise on the page title and formally request that the page be renamed to something such as "The Incorporation of"; and then the actual text can have the titles the way they are now. First, this is just painfully incorrect romanization per WP:MOS-JA. No one puts an apostrophe after the N unless it comes before a vowel or a Y kana. Next, you are wrong in your determination of what it means. It is not an abbreviation of "no"; "n da" is the informalized "n desu" copula, and because it's such a short, it's just combined with the previous word. My only source that's Japanese that has this things name in English is Rakuten who are categorizing it as "NAITEMO IINDAYO". I think this is a good enough correction to separate the two particles. Because an article can be moved over a redirect only if the only edit in the history of the target was redirecting it to the article that is being moved. After you saw that "Naite mo Iin Da yo" was already a redirect to "Naite mo Ii n' Da yo", you should have moved the article back to "Naite mo Ii n' Da yo" and then to "Naite mo Iin Da yo".
