- Red means the team was eliminated.
- Blue means the team was the last to arrive at a pit stop in a non-elimination leg of the race. This means that the team was not eliminated; they may, however, be subject to penalties (in previous seasons, teams were forced to give up all their money and belongings, did not receive any money at the beginning of the next leg, and were not allowed to collect any money until the leg actually began).
- Green means the team won the Fast Forward clue.
- A yellow > means that team chose to use the Yield; < indicates the team who received it.
Race locations
In a November 2005 telephone interview with The Salt Lake Tribune, host Phil Keoghan said the race was filming "somewhere near the Middle East". 1 Images from that preview trailer indicate the race began in Denver, Colorado and that Brazil, Italy, Greece, Russia, Thailand, and Japan are possible destinations. A CBS press release confirmed that filming took place in Sicily and Moscow, Russia [2]. In interviews with TV Guide, producer Bert Van Munster indicated that the Middle Eastern country visited was Oman and added that the winning team logged 70,000 miles of travel; host Phil Keoghan confirmed that Brazil was the first destination of the Race.
In addition, several newspapers have eyewitness reports of racers in Darwin 3, Perth 4 and Adelaide, Australia. 5 Seven Network publicity for this season also imply that Australia is on the itinerary.
