Mendeira is a village in the Portuguese parish of Cernache de Bonjardim, having less then twenty inhabitants. Climbing Mount Mendeira gives you a superb view over the whole area, situated in a meander of the river Zêzere. Since 2004 the Dutch artist Els Smulders-Waijers lives, part-time, in Mendeira. There she finds rest and inspiration for her work.

Well known is the local festa to celebrate on the first weekend of August, when Mendeira is visited by hundreds of people. This festival takes place near the local chapel.
