Hi Angela, this is just to let you know as a matter of courtesy that I've blocked User:EKBK, an account you unblocked on August 24, after s/he appealed to you that s/he'd been blocked unfairly. I've reblocked because this account is almost certainly a sock puppet (or, at best, a meat puppet) of User:Zephram Stark, who has been causing chaos on Talk:Terrorism for a number of weeks with lots of sockpuppet accounts and open proxies. More details can be found at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Zephram Stark, which has been signed by 17 editors, and WP:RfAr#Zephram_Stark. I emailed EKBK a couple of weeks ago to ask for any information that might help to put the sockpuppet allegations to rest, but I just got nonsensical replies, and today Zephram was blocked for 24 hours at 15:24 by user:Carbonite, and EKBK turned up at Talk:Terrorism at 17:53, after a week of not editing. I'd say that all the editors who've had dealings with Zephram and EKBK believe the accounts are either controlled by one person, or that EKBK is a friend of Zephram's who turns up when instructed to cause trouble. Let me know if you need more information and I'll put together some diffs for you. The last time I'm spamming you all with Esperanza stuff
Hello Angela. As you may or may not know, there have been some troubles with Esperanza. So now, as a last ditch to save the community, please vote at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Reform on all neccisary polls. P.S. I'm very sorry for spamming you all with these messages, and this will be the last time. I recommend putting ESP on your watchlist. Cheers and please look at that, let's stop the civil war then. Redwolf24 (talk) 02:41, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, can you just spam me again when it's all settled down. I've not had a chance to follow the latest goings-on and decided it was probably best to wait a few days before catching up since it's changing so much right now. Angela. 02:47, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
A question about templates used for music bands and their releases
I would like to put an info box at the end of the article KUKL (and forthcoming ones) just like those used in The Beatles, etc. I have seen that for instance, in the case of the Beatles each release could have that box with information about the artists (Check out Help!), so I thought I could do the same but I don't know how. Could you tell me please, how to create them? I don't know where to find a page talking about it. Kind regards, Luis María Benítez 00:13, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. you are faster than Schumacher! Luis María Benítez 00:24, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
Hi. I had included this image in particular because it is most definitely in the public domain, and because it's an interesting tidbit, in the spirit of the random selection of interesting tidbits that introduce the article. I think a picture "wakes up" the page a little (the logo really doesn't do it) - after all, this is for Esquire, which is a glossy magazine which does put lots of pictures in its articles. Also, Wikipedia typically has pictures in its better articles. I think catchy subheaders would snap it up a bit as well. What do you think? -- BDAbramson talk 02:18, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
Angela, I have created a template intended for notifing a user that a test has been reverted and references the article in question. It is tailored after test. I would appreciate your opinion and input. Thanks!
- By the way, thanks for your help with the script, but it does not work in Internet Explorer. Thanks anyway. Psy guy (talk) 03:16, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
Once again, Angela to the rescue :)
When I got blocked, I didn't know what to do. Since I'm surfing over proxy, I couldn't reach IRC for help, it is early morning in Serbia, so all of users I could ask to help me were sleeping - the irritation from being blocked (for no reason) was combined with the grim fact that I can't do anything about it. I decided to send an e-mail to some admin - but there are so many of them, who is online? So I've chosen you, because I knew that you are always ready to help, and I remembered Jimbo's words when he was in Belgrade: "Angela is the only person on Wikipedia that could break all of the Wikipedia rules and policies and get away with it, but Angela is the only contributor that wouldn't do it in a million years!" :)
And you dashed swiftly like a knight on a white horse, and broke the abominable chains of injustice ;) Thank you very much!!
As a small token of gratitude, I present you one of the most regarded medals given on Serbian Wikipedia, The Goldfinger's Ring. You can see it in a second row on your user page on sr: -- Obradović Goran (talk 04:59, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
Former answers project proposal
Angela, brief note of apology regarding my rather long-winded (and futile!) proposal for an answers project - knowing that you were fairly high up in the community, I put it on your talk page, but have since seen that there is a Proposals page at the Village Pump - I wasn't aware of it at the time, so sorry about that! --HighHopes (T)⋅(+)⋅(C)⋅(E) 13:55, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

WikiQuote in Gujarati
Dear Angela:
By clicking a link on WikiQuotes on gu.wikipedia, I was presented with the option of creation of gu.wikiquote. I did it but then I could not have the rights to change the system messages ad the navigation bar etc. So, I am helpless. Could you please depute some gu.wikipedia sysops to do so? Of course, needless is to say that I would like to accept the responsibility but when voting rights requires 400 edits, sysops must be requiring more. I do not know how many edits and new addition by me are counted towards my qualification of nomination for sysop etc.
By the way, on gu.wikipedia too the main page lacks the daily photograph and other stuff like en.wikipedia, for your information.

Jack Sarfatti
Angela -
You need to look at Jack_Sarfatti. Let's just say that this is a case where some read-ends may need the attention of your foot. This is apparently a vanity page, but instead of removing it, people have updated it in an -uh- intetesting fashion, and an administrator has chosen to lock it in that state.
Let me put it to you this way: Jack may have "asked for it", but if Wikipedia is at all deserving of respect he should not get this kind of treatment. If I could, I would VfD the thing as a vanity page and unencyclopedic, but since it is locked I cannot post the VfD notice. --EMS | Talk 02:17, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response. If that *thing* is encyclopedic, then so be it. In that case I will let the other editors "duke it out". I must admit that I am not so sure that the "right" answer isn't to remove extraneous text from JS's preferred version and let him slit his own throat. --EMS | Talk 13:41, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
Uncertainty over use of Wikipedia:Confirmation of permission template
Angela,
After I took photos, released them under GFDL, and were used in an article, I posted the template that you said here, where it is written that "You should add a note to the effect that permission has been confirmed on the article's talk page (not in the article itself), but avoid disclosing unnecessary personal details such as email addresses or telephone numbers. You may wish to use the confirmation template for this purpose," but editors routinely complain that I'm promoting myself, like here, where one editor says: "the content of this article has been derived from all users who have contributed. why is GordonWatts called out specifically?"
I do not need to call attention to myself, but I do need to follow policy.
If editors don't like your template, how else can I add a note to the talk page, a note that will stay put and not be hidden in, for example, archives.
Thx.--GordonWatts 02:13, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
- I think you're confusing me with Ngb. It's not my template and I didn't add anything to that page about templates. As far as I can tell, there's no reason for you to use it. It is for cases where information has been taken from other sites, and permission to use it under the GFDL has been received, not for people editing Wikipedia to promote themselves with. There is no need to write "The content of this article has been derived in whole or part from User:GordonWatts" since you are already listed in the page history - you are editing Wikipedia, so we know the content you write here is GFDL. Angela. 10:21, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
- Thank you for clearing that up; I've notified the other concerned parties. Cheers.--GordonWatts 20:19, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
Vandalism in Turkish Wikipedia by a Sysop
I'm very sorry to write this in your talk page for a different wiki, but sysop who named himself; Dbl2010 really confusing me. I'm a muslim so as you can see in Arabic wiki or English wiki I want to use Islamic Calender. And I prepared templates for this calender but this guy cancelled all of my work. Please help.
And thank you, --Erzurumlu İbrahim 14:36, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
You can see my template in this page: http://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/20_Muharrem with a deletion sign.
- Hi Angela, sorry for bothering. I just wanted you to inform about the issue. tr.wikipedia has already an almanac using gregorian calendar style. It is the only calendar used in Turkey and probally everywhere except arabic nations. Which more than 90-95% of Turkish speaking people uses gregorian calendar. And there is not any single request or any single complaint about current calendar system for the almanac pages. I warned him not to create another almanac which can confuse and will divide the work into 2. And I put delete tag just on the almanac style day pages. I didnt put any speedy deletion tag or permenantly deleted any pages that he creates. So even lets say I am wrong there is no "sysop" power involved as acts or as words agains his work. There are several ongoing warnings from tr:wikipedia community about his other acts like using arabic words in turkish wikipedia instead turkish and some other issues about NPOV. Watched articles
Hi. I'm not sure where to find the answer to my question, so I decided to ask you: is it possible to check who has a certain article on their watchlist(s)? Karol 17:05, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
- No, it isn't possible. That would be a violation of privacy since most people will want to keep secret which articles they watch, and would also aid vandalism if vandals could find which articles were watched by no-one. Angela. 17:46, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I actually asked because I noticed there's an unwatched pages page (turns out to be empty). What's that about then? Karol 18:00, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
Sitenotice at ga
Hi Angela - just a note to let you know I blanked MediaWiki:Sitenotice at ga. Nice of you to ask someone local instead of doing it yourself - how culturally sensitive! --Kwekubo 22:37, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. The steward interface is broken currently, so I couldn't have done it myself anyway, but regardless of that, I don't believe in stewards assigning rights to themselves when there are local admins available. Angela. 23:02, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
Need administrator upgrade at Ka...
Hi again, Angela. Here I am asking you for a favour :). As you are probably not aware, one of the Administrators at Georgian Wikipedia passed away recently (as is mentioned in the Main Page in a notice the community intends to keep for 10 days). There were 4 administrators and now we are just 3. To be honest, Sopho and I (2 of the administrators) are not currently doing much work. Our main intention was to start the project and attract georgians into it as it indeed happen fortunately. That leaves us with one active administrator at Ka. As the number of users and edits is growing rapidly, I thought it would be wise to get another person for the job. At Zangala's talk page there is a small discussion/poll between us about this (in english) and the consensus seems to be that Zangala should be the next administrator. Zangala is a very active user and has been there nearly since the Georgian Wikipedia started flourishing. Therefore, I'd like to ask you to upgrade her account to administrator at Ka.
As we are talking about this, I'd like to mention the fact we have no stewards at Ka and we have to ask you all the time we need an upgrade. Maybe it's time to get someone for the job at Ka too. Not me (not that I'd mind) as I'm not there as often as I would like but maybe Island would be a better choice.
Once again, thanks a lot and take care, Malafaya 22:42, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
- I'll reply at ka. Angela. 23:02, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, Angela, thanks. I'll post the requests in the page you mentioned as soon as it becomes available. As for the steward/bureaucrat issue, you are right: I meant bureaucrat. Sorry :D Malafaya 23:21, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
Couter Vandalism Unit
I have a vandalism detection bot and I feel it needs some color so I want to create a CVU logo. I am thinking of basing it on File:CTU.jpg and instead of "United States of America" use "Wikipedia Foundation", instead of "Counter Terrosism Unit" use "Counter Vandalism Unit" and instead of the eagle use (which requires board permisson as you likely know). So what do you think? --Cool Cat Talk 02:01, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
