Jonah Herscu is an American professional basketball coach who is an assistant coach for the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Coaching career

Herscu began his career working in professional basketball as a member of the basketball operations staff for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA G-League in 2012. In 2015, Herscu was named an assistant coach for the Mad Ants.

In 2016, Herscu was named as an assistant coach for the Chicago Sky of the WNBA.

Herscu spent three seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, working as an advance scout and player development assistant from 2018 to 2019. He also was an assistant video coordinator from 2016 to 2018 with the Lakers.

In 2019, Herscu was hired as an advanced scout for the Sacramento Kings.[1] Starting in the 2021-22 season, Herscu was named an assistant coach for the Kings.[2] From 2019-2022 he worked under head coaches Luke Walton, Alvin Gentry, and Mike Brown.

In 2022, Herscu joined the Portland Trail Blazers as an assistant coach under head coach Chauncey Billups.[3]

Personal life

Herscu was born in Amherst, Massachusetts.[4] He graduated from Lake Forest College with a degree in Coaching: Personal Identity, Sports Psychology and Leadership.[5] He graduated with a master's degree in Sports Science from the United States Sports Academy.
