Caitlin Amanda Bassett (born 16 March 1990) is an American actress and US Army veteran. Best known for her work as a lead on NBC’s Quantum Leap, Bassett is the first female combat veteran to work as an actress in Hollywood.
Early life
Caitlin Bassett was born on 16 March 1990 to Steven Bassett, a Vietnam veteran and sportscaster,[1] and Judith Bassett, a manager with the National Park Service. She grew up on a horse farm in Maryland where she was an equestrian and sang in the choir. Despite an interest in theater, she never took part in plays in high school.[2]
Education
In 2011, while serving in the Army and deployed to FOB Shank, Afghanistan, Bassett enrolled in the University of Maryland online program [3]. In 2015 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in legal studies and was subsequently accepted to Brooklyn Law School. She left the US Army in 2015 to attend

She completed Basic Combat Training (BCT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and her Advanced Individual Training at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas. She was then stationed at NSA Hawaii where she volunteered for her first combat deployment to FOB Shank, Afghanistan, supporting 10th Mountain Division. At 21 years old she was promoted to Sergeant.[3]
She was then transferred to NSA Washington at Fort Meade, Maryland and completed two more deployments, both with Special Operations. She ultimately attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 2015.[3] [6]
