Hi, Richard. The CCI request has been dormant for several months now, and it seems that some of the images of concern remain unresolved. For instance, the CCI request raised questions of the copyright status of :File:Schneider Eddie 1937 02.jpg and :File:Schneider-Eddie NYT 1930ff.gif. Glancing at your image uploads, it looks like a CCI will be mostly a matter of somebody separating out the vast majority of clearly acceptable images to narrow it down to whatever few may remain that reasonably require additional investigation, but it's really the only way to settle the matter. CCIs filed on contributors using real names are opened by date, to help protect privacy, and these are never indexed for the same reason. Once the issue is clarified (image requests usually go much more quickly than text ones, which sadly can remain open for quite a long time), the page is courtesy blanked and archived. I realize from our previous conversation that you've been subjected to considerable drama over these questions. I don't want that to happen again any more than you do. :) I'd much rather see it quietly dealt with and closed down so we can all keep working on building the project. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:27, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

:Hi, Richard. This is now opened at Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/20100822. Since images are not my primary thing, I am mostly sorting them into images that need further review (many of which I'm sure are fine, but I have been long confused on the WP:NFC application to images of non-living people, having had images of non-living people for which I have written FURs myself deleted) and those that don't seem to. I hope it will resolve quickly. Please watch that page if you are interested in conclusions. To avoid spamming people, we do not do individual notices for issues located, but they are annotated there. Let me know if you have any questions, please. I'm watchlisting your talk page for a time. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:58, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading :File:16495-Henry-McBride.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Hi! welcome to Wikipedia!

Hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. Be bold in editing pages. Here are some links that you might find useful:

My wikistalkers

I have a sneaking suspicion that they are either the same person or working together. Most of their contributions appear to be nominating articles that I start.

As it turned out the two were the same along with a third. I am sure there are more. All three personas nominated the same article and the accounts were banned from editing.

Willie Hoppe

Hi Richard. I wanted to let you know I moved Willie Hoppe back to his common name because he is by a vast margin the primary topic, as compared with the boxer. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:13, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I see you've changed Harrison Gray Otis into a disambig. Per WP:FIXDABLINKS, could you clean up these links that now point to a disambig? Thanks, --JaGatalk 12:48, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

DYK nomination of List of successful English Channel swimmers

Hello! Your submission of List of successful English Channel swimmers at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Nsk92 (talk) 09:26, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WP:GLAM/SI invite

Hello, Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )! We are looking for editors to join the Smithsonian Institution collaboration, an outreach effort which aims to support collaboration such as Wiki-Academies, article writing, and other activities to engage the Smithsonian Institution in Wikipedia. We thought you might be interested, and hope that you will join us. Thanks!!!

Do you have experience with mass uploading and such on the commons? We kindof need some media/tech liasons for the project. Sadads (talk) 16:54, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I Haven't been mass uploading, but I can work on a script to automate the process. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 17:18, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think some scripts have already been developed for the German Federal Archive and Troppenheim museum stuff, I just need someone interested in getting up to speed on the stuff and giving a more technical-oriented workshop. Are you local to the DC area?Sadads (talk) 17:34, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that a category has to actually exist before you're allowed to add it to articles. Category:Wiretap and Category:Maryland State Police don't, as you can tell by the fact that they're redlinks, so they can't be on articles (or replace the uncategorized template) until somebody actually creates them properly. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 22:36, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of GCPC

A tag has been placed on GCPC requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Looks like you created this in 2006, so it's no wonder you don't recall what it was. From October 2008 through today the content was:

As you can see, it was a dab page without a single blue link. Beeblebrox (talk) 15:44, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Appreciate your recent creation of Barney Greengrass. I'd started something in my user space eons ago, but never got around to fixing it up. A very worthy topic indeed. Bongomatic 01:16, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have a guest over from California that is doing an eating tour of Manhattan, and he has been talking about going there all week. I think we will get there tomorrow. Yesterday was Katz's Deli, and today was Le Bernardin for lunch. I think Sammy's Roumanian is on the list too. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 01:26, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Don't forget Russ & Daughters. Too bad Guss' Pickles isn't in Manhattan anymore (though the half sours at Katz's aren't half-bad). Bongomatic 01:38, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 1 of the articles that you created is currently tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 728 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the unreferencedBLP tag. Here is the article:

CCI

Hi, Richard. The CCI request has been dormant for several months now, and it seems that some of the images of concern remain unresolved. For instance, the CCI request raised questions of the copyright status of File:Schneider Eddie 1937 02.jpg and File:Schneider-Eddie NYT 1930ff.gif. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:27, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The additional info you provided is much appreciated. I find that my resources for covering French aces are scantier than for the Brits, if only because France had no London Gazette!

Anyhow, many thanks.

I wasn't sure that they were the same person until I did an exhaustive search. He was only referred to as "Mathieu" in the US. I am still looking for more. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 16:34, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
