From Latin mammula, diminutive of mamma (“breast”). Cognate with Portuguese mamoa and Spanish mambla.

barrow; a type of megalithic structure found along Atlantic Europe consisting of a tomb (dolmen) inside a round, artificial hill once coated by a layer of stones
