Hohenems is a town of 17,000 people (2023) in Vorarlberg. Hohenems is world-famous for the Schubertiade music festival, dedicated to the music of Austrian composer Franz Schubert.

Hohenems is home to the former residence of the Counts of Hohenems, the Hohenems Palace. The Hohenems Castle Library is the site of two of the three most important manuscripts of the Nibelungenlied , which were found in the 18th century. From the 17th to the 19th century, Hohenems was the residence of many Jewish families.
