Hello there, I'm Nora Lockshin. I was encouraged to become a Wikipedian (albeit very occasional) through my work at the Smithsonian Institution Archives, where we hosted Wikipedian in Residence Sarah Stierch during the winter and spring of 2012. By profession, I am a conservator of rare books, manuscripts, archives, and works on paper and tweet reflections on same under the handle norasnoodlings. Occasional informal articles for the SIA may be found via this blogroll. Professional Associate & occasional wiki editor of the American Institute for Conservation, member & occasional officer of the Guild of Bookworkers. Further street cred, aka LinkedIn profile.[1]

Under the fold

edit

In my Copious Spare Time, I literally draw on my past as an illustrator and exercise my creative daemons by being a non-stop knitter (Urbanitter on Ravelry), crafter, and general maker of things. I served on the board of a non-profit organization called HairFlair for Hope which makes and provides (through volunteer workshops and donation programs) handcrafted fantasy wigs to people with medically-related hair loss (such as chemotherapy).
