I heard an interview with Frank Miller recently; he also takes credit for turning Superman and Batman from friends into colleague/antagonists; and his Batman: The Dark Knight Returns predates Byrne's Man of Steel. -- ShawnVW

No. 24

edit

Anyone know why the release of issue 24 was delayed by nearly 5 months? 23skidoo 17:03, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

No, in fact, i have nearly given up on the series. This With a Vengeance Story arch is one of the by-far STUPIDEST story archs. It makes no sense. its just dumb. Superman/Batman was one of my faovrite comics until this one. I think its time they cancel it or givei t back to the artist of either the 2nd or 3rd story arch and stop it with the shitty drawings.

The reason is because in June of last year, Jeph Loeb's son, Sam, died of cancer after a few years struggling with it. Rather than get someone else in to finish it, DC preferred to let him have his own time even though he signed to Marvel last September.Tony2Times 10:13, 2 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Said son will also be the author of #26, a story he wrote and nearly completed before his death, it has been helped along by 25 major comic book creators.Tony2Times 10:30, 2 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Not a forum, not a substitute for buying the comic

edit

The purpose of this talk page is to discuss edits to the article. The article itself is bloated and gives away too much of the storylines in the books. It all needs to be summarized better and trimmed substantially. CovenantD 06:59, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I was just looking for something to do. Do I enjoy summarizing too much? --Chris Griswold 07:12, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Go for it. Be ruthless. CovenantD 07:14, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
I ended up overhauling the entire article. --Chris Griswold 11:53, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
And did a nice job. CovenantD 19:58, 18 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I really appreciate that. --Chris Griswold 07:50, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think the story arc summaries are okay (with the exception of "With A Vengeance", but that's only because that story is so convoluted anyway), but I agree that if the additions to the article continue, then the section on the arcs may have to be spun off into its own article. "With a Vengeance"

edit

I agree that the storyline that wrapped a month ago made absolutely no sense, so I would question whether it's possible for the article to make much sense of it itself.

DKR

edit

I've tried to work with it, but the bit about Dark Knight Returns still doesn't make sense in the context of the article. It contradicts the first sentence of the paragraph, that the characters are best pals. Additionally, it needs to be cited, and I don't have the information for the DVD mentioned in the edit summary. --Chris Griswold 01:23, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I would like to add http://www.batmanytb.com/comics/titles/supermanbatman/index.php to the links section. If Superman Database can be added, I think BatmanYTB should be too..

—Preceding unsigned comment added by Xphermg (talkcontribs)
  • No. It's a commercial site with ads and its own YTB store. And you're right. The items getting sold on the first page of the Superman Database are reason to treat it the same as the BatmanYTB page. Exclude both. Your persistence in joining Wikipedia just to promote this site (see your contribution history) certainly indicates that you're one of the people making money off the YTB site. More importantly, it just doesn't offer us anything informative that we can't get from a bunch of other sites. Doczilla 06:17, 2 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Superman-batman 8 cvr - large.jpg

edit

Image:Superman-batman 8 cvr - large.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The Bounty

edit

I thought the heroes that attacked Superman in the first storyline were being mentally controlled. If so, it should merit a mention IMHO. Lots42 02:14, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Movie

edit

From the article: "References in pop culture A fictional movie billboard advertising a Superman/Batman film appears briefly in one of the Times Square sequences, in the film I Am Legend, along with signs adverstising the actual Broadway musicals Wicked and Hairspray."

Well, there's gonna be a movie 2 months from now. Was the sign in the movie a hint? Or is it coincidental? Animation must have started quite some time ago. (maybe if we compare the sign from I am Legend to promo material from the new movie) Robin.lemstra (talk) 12:12, 20 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Breaking it down by writer

edit

I don't think that breaking the publication history down by writer is particularly helpful. Neither every story arc nor every writer who works on the series is going to be notable. It would probably be more useful to the reader to summarize the highlights of the run into a paragraph or two. --GentlemanGhost (talk) 19:21, 27 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I still think this, one year later. --GentlemanGhost (talk) 22:30, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Power Girl in World Finest aka Public Enemies

edit

So Power Girl appears in the third issue of this story arc. If it follows the "New Earth" continuity (according to DC wikia) Power Girl should be at Earth Two. So can someone explain me how she is acting at the New Earth? --Hufflepuff (talk) 10:54, 27 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
