Seperating Monotrematum from this

edit

I don't even see why Monotrematum is treated as synonimous with Obdurodon in Wikipedia, as only one of the mentioned sources treat it as such and more recent assessments recover Monotrematum as a basal ornitorhynchid.

plurals

edit

Changed platypi to platypuses. Hope this doesn't offend anybody. While platypi, like octopi, is used by some English speakers, it is regarded by others as incorrect (for an explanation see octopus).

New South Wales??? Huh?

edit

Riversleigh is in Queensland. It is west of Mt Isa, near the border with the Northern Territory.

It is not in the vicinity of New South Wales as this article states.

This needs to be corrected. I haven't done so as there is also a field called "Living Room", and I'm not sure what this is referring to. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Belfry (talkcontribs) 05:44, 6 February 2007 (UTC).Reply

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Living room appears to have disappeared. T.carnifex (talk) 04:36, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Habitat

edit

I'm a little unsure about actually assigning a habitat to these animals. In my opinion, there are insufficient sites of that age to show a clear distribution. For instance, Obdurodon dicksoni may have inhabited parts of what is the Northern Territory today. —Preceding unsigned comment added by T.carnifex (talkcontribs) 04:50, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Genus

edit

Either all three are the same genus or they aren't: One of them either has a wrong name or it has been listed in the wrong article. Bob the Wikipedian (talk) 20:24, 15 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Read the text for Monotrematum. Fossil classification is a little loose sometimes. Given the breadth of data inthis article, it might be better to rename it than do anything else. - UtherSRG (talk) 20:48, 15 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sounds to me like someone needs to redefine Obdurodon in a new species paper to include this species. Bob the Wikipedian (talk) 21:54, 15 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Riversleigh Platypus merge

edit

I just came across this article, Riversleigh Platypus, which is a restatement of the information here under a "common" name that i cant find any references to. I propose the info there be merged to the O. dicksoni section here and that page be mad e a redirect. Thoughts?--Kevmin (talk) 19:17, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Unless the article can be rewritten, or at least moved to its scientific name, I agree we should redirect "Riversleigh Platypus" back here.--Mr Fink (talk) 19:45, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
