On 28 June 2011 the Premier announced a decision to proceed with development of a new major stadium on the Burswood Peninsula. This stadium will have a minimum capacity of 60,000 seats and a maximum of 70,000 seats. The government announced a budget allocation of $13million for the initial planning and expects the venue to cost $700million with a further $300million for public transport.
