Egypt’s Minister of Labour, Mohamed Gibran met on Tuesday with a delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to review the agency’s activities in Egypt, with a particular focus on the Labour Market Access Project (LMAP).
During the meeting, Gibran reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to expanding collaboration with GIZ, especially in areas that support vocational training and workforce development. He highlighted ongoing ministry initiatives aimed at equipping young people with the skills needed for both local and international job markets.
To accelerate the project’s progress, the minister directed officials to initiate coordination meetings and develop a structured action plan, according to a Cabinet statement.
Discussions also delved into the LMAP’s objectives, which span a three-and-a-half-year implementation period in Greater Cairo and Alexandria. The project, developed in partnership with local and international stakeholders, seeks to enhance employment services by strengthening job-matching and recruitment systems across both private and public sectors—creating a more dynamic and inclusive labour market.
