Antonio Bombelli is Scientific Officer at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), working at the Secretariat of the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) and coordinating its Terrestrial Observation Panel for Climate (TOPC). He worked for six 6 years in the Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations (FAO) with a focus on the Global Terrestrial Observing System (GTOS) Programme. He was Director of the Division on the Impacts of Climate Change on Terrestrial Ecosystems of the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC). In 2019 he obtained a position as a researcher at the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA), and in this frame he acted as seconded Scientific Expert at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. His expertise mainly concerns Earth observations related to the terrestrial carbon cycle and climate change impacts. He has been involved in GEO since 2006, leading the GEO Task on Global Carbon Observations and Analysis before and then the GEO Carbon and GHG initiative.
