Prof. Thierry Ranchin is currently director of the Centre Observation, Impacts, Energy at MINES ParisTech – PSL University since 2013. This research centre is dedicated to exploitation of Earth Observation from evaluation of the renewable energy resources and assessment of environmental impacts of energy uses, yesterday, today and tomorrow. His current research interests are: (1) mapping of geophysical parameters for renewable energies, (2) renewable energies studies, (3) climate and renewable energies, (4) data fusion. He is involved in GEOSS since 2005 in the societal benefit area Energy and Mineral resources management. He creates the GEO Vision for Energy (VENER) Initiative and is currently leading it. He has been appointed since 2015 to the GEO Programme Board for representing France. He is the coordinator of the newly awarded H2020 e-shape project.
