This project describes a shield designed to re-burn the bootloader on any Arduino using AVRDUDE, ideal for users managing multiple Arduinos. The shield connects Arduino pins to the ATmega328P/168 for programming and includes LEDs indicating heartbeat, activity, and error states. The project is in development, with schematic and PCB files available for DIY etching. The included sketch turns an Arduino into an AVRISP programmer by defining SPI pins and LEDs for status indication. This tool facilitates easy bootloader recovery without a breadboard setup.

Parts used in the Arduino Mega-ISP Shield:

  • Arduino board (ATmega328P/168)
  • LEDs (3 total: Heartbeat, Activity, Error)
  • Resistors (for LEDs)
  • PCB or breadboard to mount components
  • ISP header pins (for SPI connections: MOSI, MISO, SCK, RESET)

Use this shield to re-burn the bootloader for any arduino. You can always make one on a breadboard, but having a shield is great. This is great for people who works with lots of arduinos. You can also use it with AVRDUDE.

Here is the current and FIRST model. This model is just a rough sketch. The picture is bellow, tell me what you think and what needs to be improved.

L1,2,3 are LEDs for Heartbeat, Activity and Error

Go to the downloads page to get the board file for eagle. Etch it on your own and tell me if it works. I will post a tutorial on etching PCBs.
