🥐 Members' Breakfast x QuietSpace 🥐 This month's Members' Breakfast was a little more quiet and less business talk focussed than usual, but equally important. After a cozy social breakfast in the Workbar, we headed up to the in-house meditation studio, QuietSpace led by its' Founder Maria Therese Jessen-Petersen. After a short meditation, Maria gave an intro to meditation and theme of 'What's LOVE got to do with it?🫶'. Maria noted that our minds are constantly assessing our experiences—always saying “I like this” or “I don’t like that.” Yet, we often spend so much of our lives disconnected from our bodies and true selves. When judgment creeps in, we create a separation from who we really are. It’s essential to notice our thoughts and what arises within us. In the West, we often approach meditation with the goal of achieving something—relief, clarity, productivity boost. But Maria explained that meditation should be a transformative tool, enabling us to create spaces for self-love and compassion, when practiced regularly. With around 60,000 thoughts swirling in our minds daily, it’s alarming that 95% of these are rooted in negative beliefs shaped by our past and culture—many of which are quite fictional. Meditation helps us peel away these layers of negativity. By embracing a space of non-doing, we allow ourselves to simply be. Clarity emerges when we reconnect with our truth. Ultimately, when we strip away everything, we discover that there is nothing left but love. 🌟 Matrikel1 Community Stage presents Stinto x Robin Daniels 🌟 We spent Thursday morning learning about the importance of relationships in Robin Daniels’ career at Stinto’s exclusive morning event. Robin is a 3 x CMO with more than 20 years in marketing and growth leadership roles at Salesforce, Box, LinkedIn, Matterport, and WeWork. He has done 2.5 IPOs, acquisitions, and led companies through hyper-growth to become epic. He began his career at 21 with a one-way ticket to Silicon Valley without money, a job, a network, or the knowledge of the impending dot-com bubble. In conversation with Jens Christensen Kam, you could hear him share personal stories, key learnings, and insights from the journey that led him to work for some of the biggest brands in the tech industry. Our notes & learnings 👉 🏅 The Importance of Relationships While being a good CMO is about creating relationships, there’s a fine balance to maintain. When networks become too transactional, they lose their meaning. 🔎 Observing Company Culture One of Robin’s job interview strategies is arriving 30 minutes early to observe the office vibe and relationships. It’s a unique way to get a feel for the culture and see if it feels right for you. 📈 CMO Challenges From his time at WeWork to helping smaller brands grow, Robin highlighted the highs and lows of being a CMO. In a crowded market, bold and authentic storytelling is what makes a brand stand out. Being a CMO is about taking a stand and being brave enough to be controversial but also putting out fires. 💡 Misconceptions and Realities Although (online) many see him as a hyper-extrovert, Robin shared that he believes it’s more about showing up for people genuinely and leaving them a little better off, and that he also needs time to recharge. Online presence can create an illusion of really knowing someone, but deep connections require consistent effort. 🤝 Managing Circles of Friendships Robin talked about the importance of knowing your “inner circle”—the people you can rely on any time, and vice versa. Beyond that, it’s important to be mindful of how you spend your time and energy, especially as your network grows. Some appointments can wait, if they are worth it. 🌍 Nordic Companies and Ambition Lastly, he called out that while #Nordic companies tend to be conservative in their go-to-market approach even through they have a great product on hand, the ones that dare to be different—like Pleo and Lunar—are the ones that stand out. Emotion drives connection, and logic supports the message. Bold is good.
