About this Role:

As a Mechanical/ Mechatronics Engineer, you will be responsible for quality mechanical design and development with basic knowledge and understanding of electrical / PLC and control systems.

Using your previous experience and your sound engineering judgement you will implement and support engineering functions that achieve innovative ideas and direction as well as quality workflows and globally applied technical direction.

Working within a highly skilled team you will create a collaborative, cohesive and supportive environment for Design Engineering personnel whilst achieving great outcomes.

You will be working very closely with mechanical engineering and other multidisciplinary team in Melbourne, Australia and other ANCA offices globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with key stakeholders during the preliminary design stage to accurately determine the customer requirements from a technical perspective
  • Prepare the detailed time estimation and financial analyses in support of projects
  • Prepare concept designs as per customers’ requirements and estimation of final design costs to prepare proposals / quotations.
  • Design, verify and validate innovative mechanical and mechatronic solutions, which include use of statics, dynamics, harmonics, pneumatics & hydraulics, and material sciences in machine tool applications.
  • Liaise with engineering team during the design stage to ensure design concepts are innovative and best practice.
  • Meeting strict customer timelines in project deliveries
  • Contribute towards continuous improvement activities.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent in mechanical / mechatronics engineering
  • Experience with NX or other CAD/CAM systems.
  • Proven technical competency and experience in mechanical / mechatronic engineering.
  • Proven comprehension of design principles and their application to machine tool design
  • The ability to autonomously manage small to medium projects, prioritizing tasks and delivering within agreed time frame
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate with internal and external customers & suppliers.
  • The ability to demonstrate critical thinking, root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Adequate knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)
  • High level of time management skills to meet strict timelines under pressure.
  • Experience working with robots at integration and programming level is advantageous.
