Entrepreneurship … … is sometimes also about working hard “in the trenches”. 😉 It was great being at Technical University of Munich Entrepreneurship Day (again). I did not only learn, that about 80 startups are founded every year within the TUM #ecosystem, but also that this makes TUM the largest B2B start-up hub in Germany! Of course, I took the opportunity to talk with Sebastian Wann Luca Fabiano Abdullah Ghazi from Muniqo Performante. Actually, they are now in a crucial phase. They passed the ideation phase and are leaving the trenches by validating their concept with customers. This includes not only technical questions, but even more importantly the #businessmodel and go-to-market. Results are really promising. 😀 BTW: Here is, what they are doing: Based their advanced technology, they are offering active damper systems (in contrast to classic passive systems), Besides much higher precision and speed, this allows for real-time data collection, which is of the essence for application e.g. in mobility and production.

In the last months I repeatedly had discussion with inhouse recruiting teams as well as external recruiting providers about how best to organise their recruiting activities. As activities grow and scale the setup of a recruiting team is essential. As recruiting is clearly not not only about occupying positions; it’s also about how to best structure the set up for effectiveness, efficiency, specialization, and client connections.    Let’s dive into two models.    1. Project-Based Recruiting Team  In this model, a recruiter takes charge of the entire process from the outset to the conclusion.    What’s the impact?  Complete Understanding:  Total oversight of the process leads to enhanced recruitment selections.    Client ties: A robust rapport generates trust and greater alignment.  Obstacles? Recruiters may feel stretched thin coping with everything.    2. Value Chain-Based Recruiting Team  Here, the procedure is partitioned: sourcing, interviewing, contract management—each assigned to a specific person.    Specialization: everyone focuses on value steps where they excel.  Speed: Simultaneous activities = reduced time-to-hire.    Obstacles? There may be communication gaps that occur between the stages.    So, which course to follow?🤔  For projects that are smaller and highly specialized with an emphasis on connections, Project-Based is impeccable.  When it comes to scaling, high-volume efficiency, and speedier results, Value Chain-Based is the way to go.  You might also choose to go hybrid. “MR. FRIEDRICHS, WHAT WILL YOU DO WHEN AI TAKES OVER YOUR JOB IN THE FUTURE? I was asked this question by a nice customer who was introduced to new recruiting systems at the “Zukunft Personal” trade fair and was very impressed by the technological possibilities. The promise of the providers of these AI-based systems is nothing less than the full execution of the recruiting/executive search process. Without Executive Search consultants. Do I have to prepare for early retirement already? Certainly not, and that's exactly what I replied to my client. AI is now making a huge contribution to supporting our executive search process. This is well known. Research work, creation of job postings and reports, predictive analytics, assessments, etc. All these steps in the recruitment process are supported or in some cases completely taken over by AI. And in the case of mass recruitment, AI can already automate the entire process. However, the human factor cannot be completely replaced in the search for executives and high potentials. Especially not in these times of an increasing shortage of skilled people and the war for talent. It's hard to imagine that the executives and talents being courted will exchange their career goals with chatbots in future and accept coaching and advice exclusively from artificial intelligence during their job transition process. In my opinion, this will be the core process in the future in which executive search consultants can make the decisive difference and provide added value for their clients: Communicating and coaching candidates throughout the entire process. We have already mapped this in our current consulting process. Before and after each exchange with our clients, our consultants conduct detailed telephone calls with the candidates - to prepare for the interview, to follow up on the interview and to provide feedback or set the mood for the rest of the process. Or simply to be able to address and dispel reservations and concerns. We call such dialogues with our candidates “touchpoints”. During our executive search mandates, the number of touchpoints per candidate is easily in double figures. These many touchpoints also illustrate the candidates' strong desire for exchange, sparring and coaching. Communication. From human to human. For this reason, AI will not take over my job as executive search consultant in the future.
