The economic development in Germany is currently under a lot of pressure. This is also visible in my area of passion the #automotive industry and the transition to #e-mobility. But we believe that a pivot is possible. Here is our latest perspective on “A pivot for Germany – All for growth and growth for all”. Federal Economics Minister #Habeck announced the economic forecast today. The figures: the economy will shrink by a further 0.2 percent. German SMEs remain an important backbone of the German economy. This is precisely why #ARD #Tagesschau visited Lapp Gruppe at its headquarters in Stuttgart. Even family-owned businesses like #LAPP are not unaffected by the economic situation - but a global orientation is important in order to be able to counteract economic fluctuations. Looking ahead, however, it is important for LAPP CEO Matthias Lapp to be optimistic: „In Germany, we often try to hold on to the negative things. But for once, we need a clear, forward-looking positive culture and that should of course also be supported politically.” There will be more from LAPP tomorrow - we will publish our preliminary figures for the past financial year. Yesterday, we conducted our second Vitesco Technologies Webcast 2024! We use this internal format to update our employees on a regular basis and in times of change, namely merging with Schaeffler, this format becomes even more important. The upcoming integration was one of the red threat topics during yesterday's webcast, where we also welcomed a very special guest: Klaus Rosenfeld, the CEO of Schaeffler. We both underlined, that we are convinced to significantly improve competitiveness by performing this merger. In fall, it is traditionally time for the Eberspächer Group's Executive Board to meet for an offsite workshop. In times of faster planning cycles and in the midst of transformation, it is very important for us to reflect and align. In my bag and in my notebook after two days of intensive exchange: We have seen a sharp drop in demand for #emobility products, while orders for conventional powertrain products have remained on a satisfying level this year. New developments based on hydrogen are promising. However, markets around the world are reacting very differently and the last quarter of 2024 will remain challenging. The transformation is an ongoing process and we need stamina as we are ready for all types of powertrains.

🇯🇵 Yesterday I had the privilege of speaking at a panel discussion in Tokyo organized by the German Chamber of Commerce. The topic was the „Internationalisation of Japanese Multinational Companies“ Together with Stefan Kaufmann from #Olympus and Mitsuhiro Murooka from #NEC we touched on key aspects such as diversified boards and the ambitions of becoming a multinational company. Here are my main key points from our discussion: 🌎 Long-term internal communication: The importance of clear, long-term internal communication for all steakholders. I personally think that it is especially important to address the middle management to ensure alignment and seamless implementation of strategic changes. 🌎 Cultural Adaptability: the necessity of fostering an inclusive culture that respects and integrates diverse perspectives. 🌎 Talent Aquisition: The challenges of finding the right talents globally and especially in Japan, highlighting the need for strategic talent aquisition and development It was an enriching experience and I’m thankful for the insightful exchange and the opportunity to contribute to this dialogue. The future is electric! Yesterday, I was part of a panel discussion at the climate conference #KlimaKon24 from DER SPIEGEL and #BCG in Berlin. The topic: ‘Transformation paths for Germany – between crisis and climate protection’. Moderated by Gerald Traufetter I discussed together with Dr. Franziska Brantner Anne-Marie Großmann Siegfried Russwurm and Thilo Schumacher about how we can successfully continue the important path to carbon neutrality despite major economic and geopolitical challenges – in Germany and beyond. One thing is clear: Achieving CO2-neutrality is a task for all of us, and one in which all our business areas play a crucial role: from e-mobility in the #automotive industry to #greensteel and #sustainability in the financial market. At Opel, we are convinced that attractive offers for electric mobility combined with clear and stable political framework conditions will ensure the long-term success of electric cars and increase customer acceptance. A clear political line and thus planning security are important for all of us – especially in the automotive industry due to the long-term development cycles and investment horizons. We therefore support maintaining the ban on combustion engines in 2035 by the EU. Our job as a manufacturer is to work on the attractiveness and affordability of our products – and this year we have come a long way: Opel is the first German carmaker to offer a completely electric product range. From 2025, every newly introduced Opel will be purely electric. And we want to further democratize e-mobility: The Corsa Electric YES! starts at €30,000, our new Frontera Electric can already be ordered for under €29,000. And in the near future we will be launching an electric vehicle for €25,000. We are tackling the challenges of these times and driving change forward. This is particularly true at our sites in Germany, where we are investing heavily to make them fit for the age of e-mobility. This cannot be taken for granted, as the costs of development, production and energy abroad are often significantly lower than those in our country. ✨ 2 intensive and inspiring days at #DMEXCO2024 and #DigitalX in Cologne are behind me, and I am still excited about the fascinating conversations and presentations I experienced. 💬🚀 The transformation over the past two years was clearly noticeable: What started as ideas around #AI has evolved beyond initial use cases. Today, we are diving deep into the "engine room" to better understand and utilize AI. 🤖🔍 The talks on societal developments and the opportunities AI brings were particularly thought-provoking. 💡🌍 A highlight for me were the presentations and discussions by Vicktoria Klich, Daniel Hulme, Anja Förster, Maximilian Then and of course Michael Fritz their insights especially stood out to me. 🎤💥 AI not only brings technical innovations but also opens the door to deeper societal questions: "What would I do if I didn't have to work for money?" – for many, the answer is a desire to contribute and give back, when everyday life allows it. 🙌❤️ What are your thoughts about it? #DualStudies at Schaeffler: We asked our dual students what they particularly like about the practical part of their studies at Schaeffler. From the lecture hall to the racetrack: 📖🏎️ For Tim, the dual study program with us is a dream come true! He is a dual student in the field of mechanical engineering in our "Two in One" program and develops technology for our sports cars on the racetrack as part of the Schaeffler team! For Tillmann, studying at Schaeffler means teamwork. 🤝 "There is no hierarchical thinking and no ego culture. Even as a student, you are a valued colleague whose input contributes to the success of the team." He is studying business administration with a specialization in automotive retailing and particularly appreciates the variety of the course content. Sophia, who is enthusiastic about the versatility of the dual study program at Schaeffler, has a similar view: "My studies give me a very varied everyday life – it never gets boring!" This is also due to the exciting challenges that have to be mastered in the team.
