🌿 About last nights ClimateHack 🌿 Thanks for the invitation to talk and share our – especially cultural and strategic – points of view on #DeepTech for Sustainability in Fashion. Special thanks to Laura Coppen from H&M, Mario Osterwalder from circular.fashion, Denis Frischmann from ClimateHack and our CEO Max R. Gilgenmann (studio MM04). 🌐 We explored the idea that technological innovation requires cultural innovation and focus on the mindset and cultural evolution, to effectively implement the already existing technological solutions. This perspective is critical to driving sustainable change in the fashion industry. 💡 Industry insights: Laura Coppen from H&M shared that their corporate venture capital (CVC) is primarily focused on their two key materials: Cotton and Polyester. 💡 Innovative start-ups: reverse.fashion, a spin-off from circular.fashion, is looking for investors for a fully automated textile sorting machine powered by their AI-driven software. It was great to be part of the discussion and offer both; constructive and critical perspectives. We would like to thank ClimateHack for organizing this event. There are many parallel sustainability initiatives in fashion and textiles, and one cornerstone is the movement towards decarbonization. This episode, our host Max R. Gilgenmann is  joined by experts from The Carbon Trust to discuss this emergent action area of positive change. Laura van de Ven and Anna Raffaelli are Carbon Trust’s Europe Marketing & Engagement Lead and DACH Regional Manager. The company consults and certifies clients through their process towards decreasing their carbon footprint, and this means going beyond carbon offsetting, where brands will engage in carbon-positive activities (like planting trees), and focusing on carbon insetting, where the brand’s own supply chain and operations change to reduce their carbon footprint. Measuring emissions is an important first step in addressing carbon impact, but our guests explain that a systemic, multi-stakeholder plan is the only way to create lasting positive change. Addressing the challenges of decarbonizing the manufacturing stages, to gaining internal leadership buy-in, to greenwash-free communication and reporting, Carbon Trust describes itself as a critical friend to companies on their sustainability journey. Meet Anbid Zaman, a remarkable genderfluid polyglot and human rights defender from Bangladesh. We are excited to welcome them for the 202030 Pop-up: Culture & Communication on 06/02/2023. Anbid embarked on their advocacy journey at the age of sixteen, championing LGBTQIA+ human rights through political activism and artistic engagements in Bangladesh. They are a founding member of the Queer European Asylum Network (QUEAN), and have a left their mark as an activist on many organizations and initiatives. They currently are a member of the executive board of the Campaign against Homophobia Germany.
