Lens distortion often has a detrimental effect on image quality, especially camera systems with wide lenses. In many camera applications, such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and driver/occupant monitoring systems (DMS/OMS), lens distortion interferes with the camera vision system. As a result, lens distortion must be measured and removed to ensure these applications have a clear vision of what they see so that they or the human operator can make proper adjustments. To remove lens distortion, we use GEOCAL, our geometric calibration device, and OpenCV to remove the distortion from the captured images of these applications. We had a great time at AutoSens this past week. It was interesting to learn about the latest developments in autonomous driving.
