That is the promise we´ve made to our Heinemann family all around the globe. And we are now creating a strong framework for this: We have started to implement our global strategy for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I), which we developed last year. To this end, we have published our DE&I Policy and established a DE&I Steering Committee.
Our policy clarifies our vision and our stance on Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity and provides a common framework for orientation and action. The internal steering committee in turn steers the implementation of our DE&I strategy and makes progress within our company visible.
“We are on a journey to foster an inclusive culture of diversity and collaboration throughout our organisation and value chain. And as we are embarking, we will set focus on our employees and internal processes first, to stay trustful and authentic to employees and customers, alike,” says Saskia Möller, LL.M., Director Legal, Compliance and Sustainability. “All our colleagues around the globe should be sure of one thing: no matter who you are, our company has your back.”
“As our people are at the heart of our organization and one of the reasons for its success, we need to make sure that we foster an environment that provides us with the opportunity to grow, thrive, and be respected and valued as the individuals we are,” says Che Lewer, Vice President People & Culture. “Our focus is on creating an attractive workplace where team members feel comfortable, connected, engaged, and valued. We want to foster a great place to work where people crave to be a part of our business.”
Our company also supports DE&I initiatives in different countries. In Germany, for example, we signed the “Charta der Vielfalt” (Diversity Charter) in Germany. Saskia and Che present the certificate in the picture below. In Australia, we are part of the Australian Retail Association´s “Gender Equality and Diversity Commitment” and in Denmark, we have joined the “Diversity Pact”. In doing so, we are sending a clear signal around the world for a working environment free of prejudice and the appreciation of all employees, regardless of personal characteristics, origin and world view.
Our Co-CEO Max Heinemann says: “We have always been a people´s business, that welcomes employees and customers from all over the world. One of our great strengths is our deep interest in other cultures and our sensitivity to the nuances that go hand in hand with this. It is not without reason that we do our business in many markets together with local partners.”
