Germany is the world's second largest shipping market. In January 2014, GAC Marine Logistics GmbH was set up in Hamburg – the country’s busiest port – to provide that industry with specialised door-to-deck ship spares delivery solutions, as well as other shipping and logistics services. The German base is the latest addition to the growing GAC Marine Logistics (GML) network, which also has offices in Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Piraeus, Rotterdam, Aberdeen, Felixstowe and Sao Paulo coordinating sourcing and delivery operations of vessel spares and parts to more than 1,000 locations worldwide.

That’s why the World Customs Organisation has given today’s International Customs Day the theme “Customs Engaging Traditional and New Partners with Purpose”. The theme emphasises the need for customs to collaborate with both long-standing allies and emerging partners, incorporating innovation and engagement to address challenges and opportunities, whilst underscoring the importance of adaptability and inclusivity in customs practices, reflecting the changing nature of international trade and signaling a commitment to a more interconnected, efficient and purpose-driven global trade environment. At GAC, we know the importance of well-oiled Customs as we work closely with officials and authorities around the world to ensure smooth handling, clearance and delivery of cargo. Globally observed on 26 January every year, International Customs Day acknowledges the essential work of customs officials and commemorates the day in 1953 when the inaugural session of the Customs Cooperation Council (CCC) was held in Brussels, Belgium, attended by 17 European countries. In 1994, the CCC was renamed World Customs Organisation (www.wcoomd.org) and, today, it counts customs organisations from 179 countries among its members. #gaclogistics

GAC Germany is opening a new office in Stade on 1 January 2024 as the company looks to expand its regional presence to meet growing demand for ship agency and logistics services to support Germany’s shipping and energy sectors. The office will be run by industry veteran, Operations Manager Ronald Kleinitzke The port is also set to play a major role in Germany’s quest to increase LNG import capacity as it is positioned to serve the #Hanseatic Energy Hub, a future-flexible LNG terminal that is currently under development. “With the growth of LNG infrastructure progressing apace in Germany, it is strategically imperative for us to be present in Stade,” says Thies Holm, General Manager of GAC Germany.
