AAM facilities around the world celebrated Pride month in various ways. At our World Headquarters (WHQ) in Detroit, we gave away Pride-themed items and treats from an LGBTQ+-owned bakery. Our Auburn Hills Manufacturing Complex (AHMC) in Michigan decorated with Pride-themed props and educational flyers, while #TeamAAM from our Rayong Manufacturing Complex (RMC) in Thailand partnered with LGBTQ+ organizations to promote equality and sponsored events like the Chonburi Community Pride and the Miss Healthy Queen Pageant.
#TeamAAM from our Lyon Manufacturing Facility (LFMF) in France recently supported Courir POUR ELLES (Running for Them), a French organization dedicated to fighting against female cancers. #TeamAAM purchased 14 race numbers for Associates and together the group walked seven kilometers (approximately 4.3 miles) in a park near their facility.
Our Auburn Hills Manufacturing Complex (AHMC) in Michigan recently hosted our Detroit Campus summer interns for a facility tour that highlighted key areas of production, assembly and other core stages of AHMC’s manufacturing process. This gave our interns a firsthand look at how #TeamAAM delivers POWER to move the world.
Our St. Marys Manufacturing Facility (SPMF) in Pennsylvania recently hosted a Women in Manufacturing (WiM) DEI Luncheon. In addition to networking and lunch, attendees talked about the contributions and advancements of women in the industry and beneficial AAM programs and services. AAM’s Angela Ketelhut, Senior Manager – Human Resources, also gave a presentation about the history of women in manufacturing and their accomplishments in leadership within the automotive sector.
21 Associates from our Europe Headquarters & Engineering Center (EHEC) in Germany proudly represented AAM at the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Half Marathon, the world’s largest corporate running event held annually in 16 locations across eight countries and six continents. Sporting special AAM 30th birthday jerseys, they achieved an impressive average running time of 38:24 and secured global and local rankings among 63,000 other runners.
Our Rotenburg Manufacturing Facility (RGMF) in Germany recently donated €1,000 to Ronshausen Elementary School to support their circus show. Over 110 students transformed into circus performers, learning from real circus artists like magicians, clowns, artists and jugglers. Melanie Mell, Coordinator – Human Resources at RGMF, presented the donation, which helped fund the event and provided students with a unique fairground and circus experience.
In honor of Juneteenth, AAM’s Detroit-based Black Associate Network recently visited the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) to explore exhibits dedicated to African American history and culture. They viewed the Regeneration: Black Cinema 1898-1971 exhibit, which highlights the often-overlooked contributions of Black filmmakers in American cinema. The group also toured the Tiff Massey exhibit, showcasing the award-winning Detroit artist's jewelry, sculpture and multimedia work inspired by 1980s hip-hop culture and her Detroit roots, all while engaging with historical artifacts and contemporary artworks that honor the legacy and impact of African American artists.
