- Turgutlu je město v Turecku s přibližně 163 tisíci obyvateli. Nachází se v provincii Manisa 55 km východně od pobřeží Egejského moře. Město se původně nazývalo Kasaba. V roce 1866 byla odsud do Izmiru postavena první železnice na území dnešního Turecka. V letech 1919 až 1922 bylo Turgutlu součástí Řeckem obsazené Iónie. La ciutat té 119.985 habitants i quatre municipis incorporats; al conjunt del districte, la població total és de 143.990 sobre una superfície de 473 km². La ciutat es remunta a l'antiguitat i va ser destruïda en la Primera Guerra Mundial. Als anys 20 es van crear fins a cent fàbriques de maons. - Turgutlu ist eine Stadtgemeinde (Belediye) im gleichnamigen Ilçe (Landkreis) der Provinz Manisa in der türkischen Ägäisregion und gleichzeitig eine Gemeinde der 2012 geschaffenen Büyükşehir Belediyesi Manisa (Großstadtgemeinde/Metropolprovinz). Seit der Gebietsreform 2013 ist die Stadt flächen- und einwohnermäßig identisch mit dem Landkreis. Turgutlu liegt im Osten der Büyükşehir und grenzt intern an die Kreise/Belediye/Stadtbezirke Şehzadeler im Westen, Saruhanlı im Norden, Ahmetli im Osten sowie extern an die Provinz Izmir im Süden. Höchste Berggipfel sind Caldağı (1040 m), Çıplak Dağ und Çatma Dağ (1405 m). Die Geschichte Turgutlus geht bis auf die Antike zurück und wurde im Ersten Weltkrieg zerstört. Vor dem Krieg trug die Stadt den Namen Cassaba. Die im Stadtlogo vorhandene Jahreszahl (1872) dürfte auf das Jahr der Ernennung zur Stadtgemeinde (Belediye) hinweisen. In den 1920er-Jahren wurden bis zu 100 Ziegeleien gegründet, die aber aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen in den nächsten Jahren ihren Betrieb eingestellt haben oder diesen einstellen werden.Die Stadt liegt an der E 96. Bis Ankara sind es 535 km, bis Istanbul 557 km. Die 1866 eröffnete Eisenbahnstrecke verbindet Turgutlu mit Manisa, später wurde die Linie bis Afyon (über Usak) verlängert. (de)

- Turgutlu, also known as Kasaba (Cassaba or Casaba) is a city and district in Manisa Province in the Aegean region of Turkey. According to 2009 census, its district population is 140,753; 115,930 live in the city itself. The district covers an area of 473 km2 (183 sq mi) at an elevation of 68 m (223 ft). The district is the most populous after the provincial center of Manisa and the second most populous district center, in Turkey's Aegean Region. The name derives from the name of the Turkish clan of "Turgutlu" (also cited as "Turgut" or "Turgutoğlu"), recorded as having provided the main support to the Beylik of Karaman during their time of existence and mentioned in historical records as an important political entity as late as the 18th century Iran. Their settlement in Turgutlu region is thought to have taken place some time in the 15th century at the same time as the Ottoman unification of Anatolia which resulted in the demise of Karamanids. That nearby Manisa was the center where Ottoman shahzades (crown princes) received their education must have placed the clan once again in a non-negligible position in their relations this time with the Ottoman dynasty.
