- Das Home Run Derby ist ein jährlicher Home-Run-Wettbewerb der Major League Baseball (MLB), der üblicherweise am Tag vor dem MLB All-Star Game stattfindet. Ein Home Run im Rahmen des Wettbewerbs besteht darin, einen Baseball aus dem Spielfeld zu schlagen. Beim Home Run Derby werden alle Würfe absichtlich langsam und aus einer geringeren Entfernung als der offiziellen Entfernung von 18,44 m (60 Fuß 6 Zoll) geworfen, in der Regel von einem Trainer hinter einem Pitching Screen. Außerdem bleibt der Schlagmann, wie beim Schlagtraining, nach jedem Schlag in der Batter's Box und läuft nicht, um die Bases. Der Schlagmann muss sich auch nicht an die üblichen Uniformen der Liga halten und da alle Würfe in die Strike-Zone geworfen werden, kann er statt eines Helms auch eine normale Baseballmütze tragen. - The Home Run Derby is an annual home run hitting competition in Major League Baseball (MLB) customarily held the day before the MLB All-Star Game, which places the contest on a Monday in July. A "home run" in the context of the competition, consists of hitting a baseball in fair territory out of the playing field on the fly. It differs from a home run hit during legal gameplay in that the batter is not competing against a pitcher and a defensive team attempting to make an out. In the Home Run Derby, all pitches are purposefully thrown slowly and at a closer range than the official 60 feet 6 inches (18.44 m) distance, usually by a coach behind a pitching screen. In addition, like batting practice, the batter remains in the batter's box after each swing, and does not run, nor circle the bases to score a run. The batter also does not have to conform to the usual league uniform standards, and as all pitches are tossed in the strike zone without any threat of beanballs, may choose to wear a regular baseball cap instead of a batting helmet. As the event traditionally takes place at sunset where the sun is of no factor to the batter, they can choose to wear their hat casually and backwards. Since the inaugural derby in 1985, the event has seen several rule changes, evolving from a short outs-based competition, to multiple rounds, and eventually a bracket-style timed event. (en)
- Le concours de coups de circuit (Home Run Derby en anglais) ou concours de circuits est une compétition présentée annuellement par la Ligue majeure de baseball. Présentée dans le cadre du match des étoiles de la Ligue majeure de baseball, généralement le jour précédent, il s'agit d'une compétition regroupant des joueurs de baseball qui tentent de réussir le plus grand nombre de coups de circuit. Inspiré des 26 épisodes d'une série télévisée intitulée Home Run Derby diffusée en 1960 dans laquelle 19 vedettes du baseball de l'époque mesuraient leurs habiletés, l'actuel concours de coups de circuit est présenté en marge du match d'étoiles depuis 1985. Les règles de la compétition ont été adaptées au fil des ans. Une seule édition, celle de 1988, n'a pas été présentée, en raison d'une météo défavorable. Ken Griffey Jr. est le seul joueur à avoir remporté le concours à trois reprises, en 1994, 1998 et 1999. Prince Fielder (2009, 2012), Yoenis Céspedes (2013, 2014) et Pete Alonso (2019, 2021) l'ont gagné deux fois chacun. (fr)

Dall'edizione inaugurale del 1985, l'evento ha visto diversi cambiamenti delle regole, evolvendo da una gara ad eliminazione diretta a una a più turni e infine in una griglia con teste di serie. L'Home Run Derby è sponsorizzato dalla compagnia T-Mobile. Il maggior vincitore dell'Home Run Derby è Ken Griffey Jr., riuscitovi per tre volte, di cui due consecutive nel 1998 e 1999. Gli unici altri due giocatori ad avere vinto due edizioni consecutive sono stati Yoenis Céspedes (2013 e 2014) e Pete Alonso (2019 e 2021, con l'edizione 2020 non disputata a causa della Pandemia di COVID-19).
