- Department of Geodesy Gdańsk University of Technology – continues the tradition of the Department of Surveying and Cartography, established at Gdańsk University of Technology in 1945 (formal appointment of the new Department: October 1, 1945, and the formal appointment of the head of the Department: September 1, 1946). In the annals of the Gdańsk University of Technology the Department of Geodesy appears for the first time at the Technical University (Preussische Königliche Technische Hochschule) and the Faculty of Civil Engineering (1904). The first head of the Department of Geodesy was Prof. Hermann Otto Paul Eggert (b. 4 February 1874 in Tilsit, d. January 20, 1944 in Gdańsk). In 1921–1937 the next head of the Institute of Geodesy was Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Lührs. In 1938–1945 the Institute of Geodesy and Geometry was led by Prof. Paul Albert Ulrich Graf (February 6, 1908, in Wolgast – September 11, 1954, in Düsseldorf). The Department of Geodesy at the Gdańsk University of Technology is the oldest in the present Polish unit dealing with science and education in the field of geodesy and cartography (currently in the field of civil engineering and transport). - Katedra Geodezji – kontynuuje wprost tradycje Katedry Miernictwa i Kartografii uruchomionej na Wydziale Inżynierii Lądowej Politechniki Gdańskiej w 1945 roku (formalne nadanie nowej nazwy katedry: 1 października 1945, formalne powołanie kierownika katedry: 1 września 1946,): W kartach historii Politechniki w Gdańsku Katedra Geodezji pojawiła się po raz pierwszy wraz z powołaniem Politechniki (jako Królewskiej Wyższej Szkoły Technicznej, Königliche Preussische Technische Hochschule) i w ramach Wydziału Inżynierii Lądowej. Pierwszym kierownikiem Katedry Geodezji był Hermann Paul Otto Eggert (ur. 4 lutego 1874 w Tylży, zm. 20 stycznia 1944 w Gdańsku). W latach 1921-1937 dyrektorem Instytutu Geodezji był prof. dr Wilhelm Lührs. W latach 1938-1945 Instytutem Geodezji i Geometrii kierował prof. dr hab. Ulrich Paul Albert Graf (ur. 6 lutego 1908 w Wolgast, zm. 11 września 1954 w Düsseldorfie). Formalnie, mając na uwadze dekret z dnia 24 maja 1945 r. o przekształceniu Politechniki Gdańskiej w polską państwową szkołę akademicką, Politechnika w Gdańsku z okresu Wolnego Miasta Gdańska, a wraz z nią jej jednostki zostały przejęte i weszły w skład powojennej Politechniki Gdańskiej z zachowaniem uprawnień i zobowiązań. Jest to najstarsza na terenie obecnej Polski jednostka zajmująca się nauką i kształceniem w zakresie geodezji i kartografii (współcześnie w dyscyplinie inżynieria lądowa, geodezja i transport).
