- Aceses (llatí: Acesas o Aceseus, grec Akesas o Akesós Ἀκεσᾶς o Ἀκεσεύς) fou un home de Salamina a Xipre (o de Patara) conegut per la seva habilitat en el món artístic i la varietat dels seus vestits. En el mateix aspecte va destacar també el seu fill Helicó, suposadament originari de Caristos. No se sap quan van viure, però fou abans d'Eurípides i Plató. (ca)
- Ο Ακέσας ή Ακεσεύς ήταν αρχαίος Έλληνας από τη Σαλαμίνα της Κύπρου, ο οποίος φημιζόταν για τα υφάσματα που ύφαινε και τα περίτεχνα σχέδια τους. Όπως αναφέρει ο Αθήναιος ο Ακέσας ήταν γιος του Ελικώνα, ο οποίος ήταν επίσης υφαντής. Ο Ζηνόβιος περιγράφει πως ο Ακέσας κατοικούσε στα Πάταρα ή στην Κάρυστο ή στον Ελικώνα. Αναφέρει επίσης πως κατά την παράδοση ο Ακέστας ύφανε το πέπλο της θεάς Αθηνάς. Πιθανολογείται ότι έζησε πριν τον Ευριπίδη και τον Πλάτωνα οι οποίοι αμφότεροι αναφέρουν το πέπλο (Εκάβη 468, Ευθύφρων 6c). Δείγματα της τέχνης του Ακέστα υπήρχαν και στο ιερό των Δελφών, όπου υπήρχε επιγραφή η οποία εξιστορούσε την παράδοση με τη θεά Αθηνά τους. (el)
- Acesas (Greek Ακεσας) was a native of Salamis in Cyprus famed for his skill in weaving cloth with variegated patterns (polymitarius). Acesas and his son Helicon, who distinguished himself in the same art, are mentioned by Athenaeus. Zenobius speaks of both artists, but says that Acesas (or, as he calls him, Aceseus, Ακεσεύς) was a native of Patara, and Helicon of Carystus. He tells us also that they were the first who made a peplos for Athena Polias. While the exact time of their lives is unknown, it must have been before the time of Euripides and Plato, who mention the peplos they made. A specimen of the workmanship of these two artists was preserved in the temple at Delphi, bearing an inscription to the effect that Pallas had imparted marvelous skill to their hands. (en)
