I am thrilled that the Royal Mail Collective Pension Plan has now launched. It has been a long road, but our engaged and passionate Trustee Board have worked tirelessly with our advisers and service providers to become the first pension scheme to obtain authorisation from The Pensions Regulator to launch a Collective Money Purchase Plan. As a team we are excited about starting this new chapter for British pensions, and delivering the benefits of this innovative new model of pensions delivery to our 100,000+ members. The executive team and the Trustee Board have had a wealth of support over the past few years in bringing the Collective Plan to life, working alongside Royal Mail and the two unions, Unite CMA and the CWU. There are too many people to thank, but I have tried to set some of them out below! We will have more to say in the future, but right now our minds are turned to bedding in the new scheme and beginning this new journey for our members and for UK pensions. #TeamSPB Perth has been the proud custodian of a significant collection of artefacts and documents that showcase our firm's deep ties to Perth's legal and political history. When Francis Leake KC joined our firm in 1926, he brought with him a collection of significant family momentos, including the Leake Family Bible from 1823. The events recorded on the inner cover include the death of Leake family matriarch Anne Heading Leake, who is believed to have been the oldest of the early colonists to arrive in Western Australia in 1829. The Leake Family Bible became part of our firm library and it was in use up until very recently by current members of the firm for important purposes like swearing in witnesses to testify in arbitration proceedings. We will shortly be donating this item to the Parliament of Western Australia in recognition of the Leake family’s significant contribution to Western Australia’s legal and political history.
