Este óleo fue pintado durante el mandato del president Prieto (1831-1841) y se le puede considerar uno de los primeros retratos presidenciales. Fue realizado por artistas ecuatorianos avecinados en Chile; se atribuye al taller de los Palacios de Concepción, particularmente al quiteño Manuel Palacios. Esta obra sería la fuente iconográfica para el medallón con el retrato de Prieto en lapintura la Virgen del Rosario, hoy en la Iglesia de Santo Domingo. |
