Deutsch: Der Ortsname Schmitshausen leitet sich aus der Flurbezeichung "zedem Smidehusen" her, und die Bewohner des ältesten Hauses in Schmitshausen, einer Schmiede, hießen vor einigen Jahren noch mit Übernamen Schmitts. Die Herleitung des Ortsnamens von einer Schmiede wurde verknüpft mit der Bedeutung von Schmitshausen als Ort der Rosenzucht, was ihm den Beinamen, "Rosendorf" einbrachte; so stehen im Ortswappen Hufeisen und Rose bei- einander.
