English: Elliot House, on Deansgate was the Manchester Registry Office and before that the offices of the corporation's Education Department. Originally built by Royle and Bennett in 1878, Grade II listed Elliot House was named after John Kenneth Elliot, who was Manchester’s Chief Education Officer from 1955 to 1968, The building is of Terracotta and red Ruabon brick in Queen Anne style- The corner features an oval window with elaborate sandstone carving with two putti. |
